That's why she's in the back row, to give her time for the absent-minded professor routine.

Her check result for knowledge (religion) would be a 21.

There's a first time for everything. Seriously, when was the last time Alwyn actually knew anything pertaining to matters of religion?

Well, matters of doctrine are quite simple in the Gorumite faith. "Kill it!"

Alwyn, Sef, Illes:

Spoiler:
The creature isn't undead, although it is probably dying being made up of separate individuals roughly crunched together - hence the smell. Something like this would be suggestive of Lamashtu, since she creates all sorts of horrible monsters.

Camlo takes a deep breath and then moves in to attack, letting his magical helper go as he does so....

Elisile stares in horror for a moment at the unholy amalgamation before her … then quickly steps back into the space vacated by Camlo, another step back, stringing her bow, then fires a flaming arrow at the creature, her bow and ammunition already enhanced by the spells she cast on entering this catacomb.

Move back to P12. Fire bow with benefit of gravity bow, flame arrows, precise shot, point blank shot and deadly aim.

Ranged attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32 damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 5) + 7 = 13 plus fire 1d6 ⇒ 6 plus electricity 1d6 ⇒ 3

Camlo somehow finds a weak spot amid the thrashing limbs and plants his rapier there, causing more howls. Elisile ducks back and shoots an arrow into its bulk.

Illes.

The Horror is up

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Oh, come on. That's no way to talk about Aubs!

Sorry for my inactivity.

You are too kind...

The volume of cries and howls becomes deafening and disorienting as the horrible fused amalgam of living flesh rolls forwards. Camlo's attacks seem barely to bother it as he struggles to find an actual vital spot amid the thrashing limbs. Even Alwyn struggles to make much of an impact on it. Elisile's arrows, powered with extra elemental force, seem to do some damage.

OK, time for some fun (for me)!

Everyone must make a DC 18 Will save while the creature shrieks (which it does as a free action every round). If you fail, you are Confused for that round.

Next, it's dividing its attacks between Camlo and Alwyn. It get's a total of six bites - 1-3 on Alwyn, 4-6 on Camlo - and can then get a grab as a free action after each.
Bite 1 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21 to hit, damage 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 plus grab - 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (16) + 24 = 40 v CMD or you are grappled
Bite 2 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36 to hit, damage 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 plus grab - 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (13) + 24 = 37 v CMD or you are grappled
Bite 3 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (6) + 16 = 22 to hit, damage 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 plus grab - 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (11) + 24 = 35 v CMD or you are grappled
Bite 4 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18 to hit, damage 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 plus grab - 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (6) + 24 = 30 v CMD or you are grappled
Bite 5 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20 to hit, damage 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 plus grab - 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (10) + 24 = 34 v CMD or you are grappled
Bite 6 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21 to hit, damage 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 plus grab - 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (11) + 24 = 35 v CMD or you are grappled

EDIT: Potential crit on Bite 2. 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30 to confirm, extra damage 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Immune to crits?

Camlo dances out of the way of the bite attacks with ease.

So it would appear. And sneak attack.

Will Save DC 18: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34 Well, that was a bit unnecessary...

Sefayll can just make out the dodging form of Camillo just ahead and the shouts of the priest of Gorum to her right. She places a fireball between the two and forward twenty feet, causing a bloom of fire to explode almost in the party's faces, attempting to immolate the back half of the monster.

Fireball! Reflect DC 19 for half: 10d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 1, 4, 4, 6, 4, 2, 1) = 31 If it fails the save, it catches on fire for 3 points of damage for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds.

Will save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 With an additional +2 if this is an enchantment effect.

The spell is an enchantment so I will say Yes.

The creatures scream wax louder as it burns, and the stench is indescribable.

Camlo, then Elisile, then Illes.

I forgot the +2 bonus to saves from Good Hope – unfortunately still not enough.

Confusion result: 1d100 ⇒ 74

Elisile puts another arrow to her bow ... then shakes her head in confusion and stabs herself in the thigh with the arrow.

damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

Amid the shrieks and wails Illes voice cuts through loud and clear,

"I lived in a place called Okfuskee
And I had a little girl in a holler tree
I said, little girl, it's plain to see
Ain't nobody that can sing like me
Ain't nobody that can sing like me"

and somehow it brings things back into focus, driving away the madness rolling off of this abomination. As he sings the bard begins working magic into the song to speed his allies in battle.

Will with Good Hope: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 2 = 24

Everyone is getting +2 on the save from good hope.
The save isn't fear or charm, so inspire courage won't apply.
However-
I'll switch bardic performance to countersong at this point.

Countersong (Perform Sing with Good Hope): 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 17 + 2 = 28
Anyone can use the 28 for their save vs confusion until my next turn when I'll have to roll again.
If you are currently confused, but haven't acted you can use my 28 to pass the save at this point before your turn comes up.

NO INSPIRE COURAGE

Alwyn.

Right, I think Vatters is maybe not going to post on this one. Someone please take his turn, then it's the Horror.

Some bookkeeping first - it appears Alwyn has taken 10 points of damage and is grappled. Unsure if the Ring of Foe Focus has been implemented, doing so will assign the bonus to the Horror bringing his AC to 29.

"Ha! Right where I want you!" He activates the cloak of fangs and his canine teeth grow to prodigious size. Unable to swing his sword effectively, he releases it with his right hand to draw his dagger.

Full attack
Primary w/ dagger: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 11 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 18 Bonus from good hope and haste, penalty from grappled condition

Iterative w/ dagger: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 9
Damage: 1d4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6

Secondary w/ bite: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 = 5

Haste w/ dagger: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 17
Damage: 1d4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7

"Gah! This thing is nothing but armpits! Where's that brother of mine? That sword-swinger would be handy right about now!"

Alwyn's dagger and teeth do no damage to the creature. It attempts to draw the cleric inside it.

The Horror attempts an engulf.

Uh-oh.

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

I'm not sure how the mechanics interact on this, but...
Illes could cast liberating command as an immediate action to give Alwyn +20 on an escape artist check. But since this is vs CMD I don't know if it even applies. Would it help?

Yes, it would - you can use Escape Artist instead of your CMB to escape a grapple, but it has an armour check penalty and he's wearing full plate which negates the benefit slightly. On the other hand, it means he gets a chance to escape the grapple before he gets sucked in.

I will have to see what's available, but it will probably involve fire. Speaking of which, I believe the creature is on fire from my fireball last round, so I need to remember to roll damage when I post. Note to self. For Sef.

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

Missed the edit window. The 'catch fire' effect was for 3 points of damage but only for one round. I don't know if Aubrey applied the damage last round as part of the original casting or if it was supposed to happen after a round. I would think the latter, in which case, it takes that burn damage now.

I believe we have established that the creature is not undead, correct? If Sefayll believes that the creature might be susceptible, she will try hold monster on it (Will DC 23). If she does not believe that to be an option, she will try a scorching ray away from the Alwyn's struggling form.

Knowledge check (arcana) regarding suitability of the hold spell: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (6) + 19 = 25

Alwyn struggles valiantly. He almost pulls free, but more arms reach out to grab him.

If this carries on much longer I won't have to worry about how to write Alwyn out.

Hold Monster should work on this thing.
