“Hudak, wait in here until we figure out what happened to Demiarchos,” Elisile suggests, beginning to move forward. “Mighty Hudak would just not be the same the size of a halfling,” she adds with a wink.
Assuming Hudak agrees and delays, Elisile will take her turn now. She moves forward to B6 and fires her bow at the giant, using precise shot to safely shoot into combat. She is just within point blank range.
Shock composite Longbow: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33 damage (Gravity Bow): 2d6 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 3 + (5) = 18
Alwyn Agnarrson
"Uh, how are you doing?" Alwyn looks very concerned about the state of his planar ally. He turns to the others in the corridor. "Wait a few minutes to let him recover. Hopefully the shrinking effect is temporary. If it is, we'll just go through, suck it up and then grow back to normal size again."
Elisile Starbrow
Elisile lowers her bow, looking with satisfaction at the dead giant, then looks at Demiarchos. She runs her fingers along her lips, concealing her smile at the shrunken, sick looking Gorumite hound.
“Yes, it’s perhaps best not to subject ourselves to the same effect until we know what we’re dealing with,” she answers Alwyn. “Ex-hellknight, do you recognise the effect? Camlo, can you see any triggers?”
The elf casts detect magic, slowly scanning the room and Demiarchos for auras, as well as looking for any pertinent glyphs, runes or similar.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (3) + 19 = 22 ; Perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34
Sefayll Valerian
"Well and truly struck, lady archer. Technically, hellknight signifier would actually be more accurate." She also casts detect magic and tries to read the resulting auras.
Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (14) + 19 = 33
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (17) + 25 = 42
Elisile Starbrow
While they are waiting to see what happens to Demiarchos, Elisile suggests that Alwyn and the kobold search the room and the corpse of the giant, seeing they are already there.
Elisile Starbrow
I guess we all need Will saves?
Will Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Just in case this is a visual effect, Elisile lowers the Medusa Mask, getting a +4 bonus to her save in that case. If it is an enchantment effect she gets a further +2.
Elisile Starbrow
"Just move through. If you are affected, it'll pass pretty quickly."
Hmmm... Is this a Rob Kuntz dungeon?
I think Wolfgang Bauer wrote this adventure. It was supposed to be a bit of a nod or homage to the old 'Giant' series adventures.

A 22 was insufficient for the Dog of Battle, so yeah, I can hear the pitch of the conversation rising already.

The other step out into the room. They all feel the vertiginous change and nausea and their bodies shrink.
Unfortunately, it is at this point that another enemy strikes. More than ten feet tall, a lumbering creature seemingly made of pig iron bursts through the wall, although its passage leaves no hole. A massive maw splits its prodigious round belly so that it looks like little other than a mobile humanoid furnace. Through the sockets of its eyes, flared nostrils, and both mouths flickers an angry glow, as if a furnace raged within the brute's bowels. The impression is cemented as its jagged belly maw belches forth a blast of cinders and sparks.
Initiative checks, and please place yourselves on the map. The creature gets a surprise attack but how that works out will depend on where people are standing.
Elisile Starbrow
Of course that was going to happen ...
So I think everyone except Alwyn, Enga and now Demiarchos is shrunk and sick. I assume that everyone else is one category smaller and has the Nauseated condition (Creatures with the nauseated condition experience stomach distress. Nauseated creatures are unable to attack, cast spells, concentrate on spells, or do anything else requiring attention. The only action such a character can take is a single move actions per turn.)
Actually, Illes has not yet made his will save - do we assume he hasn't entered the room yet or Aubrey would you like someone to roll for him while Ith is tied up with real life?
This puts us in a pretty bad way, as nauseated characters can't do much except move and vomit. The unimpaired folk are going to have to carry this fight, or find a way to end the effect on some or the rest of us. Did Elisile or Sefyalls' earlier arcana or spellcraft checks suggest any way to end the effect? Eg, dispel magic, transmutation magic to increase size etc.?
Elisile Starbrow
How long was Demiarchos affected by this?
I notice that Alwyn has a few dispel magics at his disposal, which may end the effect for one other person (per casting) - though it could be a long shot, as the high save DC suggests this is a powerful effect.
If Alwyn does want to cast dispel magic on one of us, I suggest he go for Illes (if we determine he is effected) as he can cast break enchantment, which can remove transmutation effects (which I assume this is, given the size changing aspect). Or possibly Elisile if we think casting a different size altering spell will end the effect - she can cast Enlarge Person on someone (maybe Hudak?), which may be a better bet than dispel magic or break enchantment, as it doesn't require a dice roll. However, if it only reverses the size change and not the nausea there is not much point.

I stuck Illes in what looks like a sensible place.
The creature tries to chew up Alwyn with its giant belly-bite.
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18 to hit, damage 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 1) + 7 = 10. Alwyn also need to attempt a DC 22 Reflex save or it gets a free Sunder attempt on his armour.
EDIT: Jammy!
And initiative checks, please.

Eh, I thought I tried to ask the same question. Must have been a different thread.

"I don't feel so..." Illes promptly retches on the floor as the wall explodes inward.
I don't know what all those rolls are about. Clearly we are fighting the metal cousin of the Kool-Aid man. If only he'd said "Ohh Yeaaaaahhhhh!" when he burst through the wall.

Forge-Fiend 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 He really isn't rolling too well.

1d4 rounds, roll for yourself
Sefayll's nausea duration: 1d4 ⇒ 1
So I presume the round we are in currently is the round I'm out of commission, yes?
