There's a bug they've been working on for a little more than a day now that's borking folks' Campaign Tabs as well as the new post identifiers and links. So it's not just you =)
Chephren
Due to work commitments I need to drop out of all my current games. Thanks for letting me play with you and I hope to play again in the future.
Aardvark DM
I'm sorry to hear that, but I understand. If you find time again, you are welcome to let me know and I can work you back in.
Aardvark DM
Okay, when we lost Gabriel I was already considering alternatives (as I had asked previously). Returning to my last recruitment thread, there was a Wind Oracle entry that was considered. The player is still active in one of my other games.
Also, I often try to bring new players into the game, once again I have a co-worker who is interested, so I'm considering her as well (that way, even if she doesn't work out, there is still the oracle).
Is everyone okay with this?
Brennan Darkblade
@Chephren - sorry to see you go, man. You will be missed.
@GM - your game, your players. I certainly don't mind, and I like bringing in new blood under a "friendly" atmosphere
Aardvark DM
My coworker is pretty much done with her character, except for some tweaks, so she might be along anytime soon. Also, the other replacement player may be along shortly as well. (From the last recruitment thread).
Yodi Feldenson
Thanks, Odea!
Here's the first draft of Yodi. His gear is still from his days as a level 2 fighter bard. I haven't bought anything yet for his new oracle incarnation, but Aardvark can start checking mechanics. He's my first oracle, so I'm bound to have messed something up.
Aardvark DM
Okay, Yodi, I'm figuring out how I will work you in at the end of their current scene.
Also, based on the house rules, you get a skill point to put in either Craft, Profession, or Perform, to represent life before adventuring.
You also get a skill point/level in a class-specific skill. For Oracles, I base it off their mystery. Looking at yours, I decided it would be Knowledge Arcana.
Yodi Feldenson
How about a cloak of resistance(+1), upgrade that MW chain shirt to MW breastplate, and I'll pick up a few random mundane tools. That should wipe out Yodi's cash.
Yodi Feldenson
Just realized that I hadn't picked a level three feat. Added improved initiative to cover that. Bought the cloak and recorded the breastplate swap. Yodi's still got about 118 gp.
Yodi Feldenson
Troy, don't feel like you have to force Yodi's introduction. I can wait patiently for the opportune moment.
Also, this wasting disease has left Yodi weaker than I expected. He's well into medium encumbrance with combat gear, and heavy with his full load. What would you say to a travois, or wheelbarrow, or handcart?
There is a 'Cart' in the equipment list. 15 gp. 200 pounds. I've always assumed it was for livestock, but it seems a little light for a horse cart and heavy for a hand cart.
I could just use a mule.
Let me know your thoughts.
Brennan Darkblade
Stuff it, freak face. You suggested doing brutal things to an enemy. You think Brennan isn't going to leap at the chance? It's his natural inclination, even if it was suggested by the time-travelling freak show.
Aardvark DM
@Yodi, I will need to work you in before they get into their next tomb.
Ideally the easiest way is due to groups splintering either between losses or differences in opinion.
You can whichever manner of hauling your gear you prefer, but just know that your pack animal is a possible target (depending on the enemy of course, mostly predators), and would not likely survive being left out of whichever building/ruins you investigate.
There is another option, as the other player I was bringing in (a coworker) took Ant Haul. She's been out due to RL issues, but I was hoping to introduce the two of you as from the same group just to make it easier. I won't really know until I work with her again on Monday. Also, if you haven't seen the page yet, I will need to build your Loot list page so you can fill it in.
@Everyone else, So I wanted to open this up, as it's been somewhat easier before. Do you guys have any ideas on how to work out Chephren from the story? I've said before I don't like arbitrarily killing off players leaving.
That said, I'm not eager or prepared to DMNPC him through this whole next location, also, he currently owns two of the most valuable items of treasure you've found thus far.
Aardvark DM
Yodi, if you have the money, why don't you buy a Masterwork Backpack? At least give you a little extra weight.
Besides, if you wear a Breastplate anyways, you have up to medium load, since your armor gives you those penalties anyways.
Brennan Darkblade
As far as I am concerned, this is the perfect spot to kill off a player. He was our healer, he's bleeding out (okay, he stopped, but none of us know that), and we were just ambushed. It might be well in character to check him for signs of life, find none, and leave him behind. That way he can be Schrodinger's Healer. we'll never know if he's truly dead or alive (though we will proceed as if he's dead). If Cheph ever comes back from his self-imposed vacation, then he can be "nope, I wasn't dead, you a!$%!&@s!"
Brennan would be fine with looting his body and leaving him in the most respectful manner we can. After, of course, looting our foes and finding out why they ambushed us, and who was behind it (as if we couldn't guess). After all, it's likely now a race to the most hotly contested site in the Necropolis. And working new players in shouldn't be hard, as we've just lost our healer :(
Aardvark DM
I'm actually inclined to agree with you in this regard. Sadly, it is just too easy a removal at this point. It solves the player out issue, and the gear issue. Also, I've never actually seen anyone that has returned come back to one of their old games. I dislike it, but it may very well be the absolute best method at this moment.
If he does come back, there can be the "Someone found you left for dead and nursed you back over the time you were gone." story.

I like the MW backpack idea. It'll burn a good bit of his remaining cash which means I won't have to shop as much, and will put him close enough that he can reach medium load by jettisoning a few articles if he needs to.

Hello, Yodi! Welcome aboard.
Brennan is the resident bastard of the group, so it's easy to see that this may be the only kind word you get. :)

A badly broken adventuring party is already part of Yodi's background. He's desperate for new partners, or any chance to make a buck. I can easily see him teaming up with your co-worker's PC and giving the crypts another try.
Loot list page?
Aardvark DM
In the campaigns tab -
Under the title of the campaign -
There is a link labeled "Loot List" (the link also appears at the top of each thread page).
Clicking it takes you to a Google spreadsheet that I use to track equipment and loot (which automatically updates encumbrance).
Aardvark DM
Looking at the loot, I just realized, no one has yet claimed the Kohl (Magic Unidentified), Gold Holy Symbol, and Adamantine Heavy Flail.
On the loot list, all items are at their resale value (half for everything except gems and art objects, as per the rules. Remind me when selling if it's more due to traits). Just like a new car, as soon as you buy an item, it's value drops to half. :-)
Ciyradyl Ersatra Augmented
Hello everyone! I am the new player/the coworker. I'll be playing under two profiles (this one and Ciyradyl Ersatra).
Aardvark DM
Sadly, Yodi, I think I've tried to copy/paste from excel into it before, and it didn't work out.
Brennan Darkblade
Hello Ciyradyl! Welcome aboard. Hope you are ready to join up with this band of misbegotten miscreants.
I'll tell you what I told Yodi. Brennan is the resident bastard of the group, so it's easy to see that this may be the only kind word you get. :)
Ciyradyl Ersatra Augmented
Thank you!
That's alright. Ciyradyl can be a little stuck up at times, so I'm sure it will get interesting. :)
Yodi Feldenson
I don't really care much about our old team name. I'll suggest The Grim Propectors because it was the first name suggested and rejected for the current group. Might be interesting to see if any of them remember, although I think only Brennan and Surubi are originals. Omen came later.
A few things you'll know about Yodi even though he doesn't talk much. The Grim Propectors (or something else if you like) are Yodi's second team. The first team died badly and he contracted an apparently incurable wasting disease while exploring tombs with them.
His breastplate is oversized, but he claims it fit well once and that his father made it. The armor and a longsword are all that's left of the gear that brought with him when he and his friends came south from the Land of the Linnorm Kings. He doesn't use the sword at all, but sharpens it at least three times a week.
Occasionally you could hear him singing in his rough raspy voice when he thought he was alone on watch. It was not pleasant.
He has a limited number of magical tricks. He claims he had better ones before the gods stole his voice and his strength in the tombs.
Aaardvark, you can, of course, look at the spoiler too. I finished Yodi's random purchases.

Since Yodi doesn't talk too much, it would make sense that Ciyradyl would do the majority of the talking. She was forced to stay indoors as a child due to being frail, so she loves meeting new people and can talk about nothing. She probably won't even notice your silence.
Ciyradyl has two forms. Her normal Elf form and when she summons her Eidolon. She's more shy and less confrontational without her Eidolon. With it she's a go getter and will not back down from a fight.
My eidolons appearance is very important. Without the Eidolon she has dirty blonde hair with a green nature headband that covers her mark on her forehead. With the Eidolon, she still wears her headband, but has strawberry red hair (just look at the avatar). She resembles a smaller centaur like creature. On her hands are claws, but she has four legs. Her lower half has a thick dark brown fur that looks sleek.
Also, I can carry some of your stuff if you are too heavy. I have plenty of weight left.
therealthom

** spoiler omitted **
Cut and Paste seemed to work. I can see Yodi's stuff in the loot list. I'm knocking his personal weight down to 150. At over 6' that should make him appropriately skeletal.
Edit: Or maybe you're dropping his weight to 170. That cell seems to be protected against me writing in it.

The Grim Propectors is perfectly fine with me. It would be interesting to see if/how they would react to that. That was her first team.

Grim Prospectors it was!
I should have been more precise. In general, Yodi doesn't talk much about himself. But things leak out occasionally. His curse gives him a -4 to Ch based checks. So it still makes sense that you would be the public face of our little duo. Speak away.
I like the eidolon description and the personality alteration, when she's with it. Nice.
Thanks for the offer on carrying Yodi's gear. I think he won't accept. He stubbornly prefers to drag his extra stuff in a litter behind him, rather than let someone else carry it for him. If we ever run into conditions where the party really needs him to -- then some good RP might get him to relent for the good of the party. But maybe not. Despite this attachment to carrying his own stuff, he's careless about his gear, except his breastplate and sword.
** why Yodi won't accept help carrying his stuff.
A bit more OOC background for you, FFE. Yodi applied to the campaign in 2015. At that time Yodi was a fighter1/bard1 who was going to progress mostly in fighter. He was young and strong and fearless and beautiful, but already filled with regret for the loss of his friends.
But that Yodi didn't fit this party; they seemed to need a healer/support character more. So in addition to the loss of his friends, Yodi picked up the curse of this wasting disease. Total score re-arrangment and new class. Strength dropped a lot; Ch increased a little, but his social skills are penalized by the effects of the disease. He remembers the young, strong Yodi, and likes him better, than the withering wreck he is now. That stubborn independence derives in some degree from self-loathing and a desire to live up to his old self-image.
Aardvark DM
Yodi, that's fine, I can fix the weight. The top part is locked because that's where I have all the formulas, so I'm trying to keep them from any accidental changes.
Brennan Darkblade
FYI - I will be travelling from Sun-Fri, and I may not be able to post regularly during that time. If I am a player in your game, please feel free to DMPC me to keep the story moving. If I am GMing the game, RP and/or sit on your thumbs until regular GM posts resume.
Ciyradyl Ersatra
Ah okay! That makes sense. My Ch is pretty decent, so hopefully Yodi will never have to get us out of a sticky situation.
If we ever need him to let someone carry his items and he still refuses, I have ant haul, so we have options.
Omenhotep, the Woken King
Hey guys, sorry I've quieter of late; we're in the middle of a big system conversion at work and I've hardly had a spare moment. On top of that, I've been trying to prep like crazy for my annual CabinCon trip this weekend (Thursday - Monday), so I'll be entirely offline during that span as well.
If anything exciting happens while I'm unable to post, Omen will probably say something bombastic before sicking Brennan on it. =P
