Narnel Falerathon
Round 5, Kensei's Shot, Blessed, Deft Strike (1 ki)
Narnel aims and fires his longbow again at the vampire.

Wisdom Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Lyraath looks at her quizzically. ”What are you trying to do? That’s not going to work. Hmm, also I think it’s time to deal with this more directly.” He draws a short sword, charges up, and starts lunging at her and trying to grab and pull her off of Molok.
Help action to assist Molok and grant advantage on his next roll if that’s alright.

Godric tried to summon his divinely gifted powers, but all that came out was a weak fizzle of energy. He called out to Narnel ”Hold on! I will be your eyes for the next attack.”
Next round I’ll also do the help action to negate your disadvantage
Urth Stormraven
Urth steps away from the rat swarm and poisons them. "Venenum!"

Narnel and Godric, sounds good with the helps.
Urth, moving out of reach gives them an AoO
AoO Urth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 miss
Urth steps away from the boiling living mass unscathed, pouring a green fizzling magic further into the cauldron...

...the already terrible looking rats look much worse off.
Narnel thinks he sticks another sheaf into the creature...

Alright I guess Molok is bogged down at conference. I'll go ahead and say he moves away, since 1 AoO is less likely to kill his character than another full attack...
Lyraath watches Molok stumble over into the corner, the vampire lashing his back unforgivingly as he goes...
AoO: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

Round 6:
Enemies
Lyraath (grappled), Molok, Godric, Urth, Narnel <---UP
Lyraath
As she grasps onto Lyraath and goes to bite his artery, he suddenly shrinks down to miniature size Ant Man style! runs several feet away and suddenly burst back to his original size.
With a smile, he says, "You really should learn anatomy because my eyes are up here!" As he points to his eyes, he unleashes his pent up psionic energy into a massive push trying to knock her into the hallway.
Diminution: Sudden Shift as a reaction to avoid the attack. Then one more attempt at Psychic Hammer but this time using Psionic Surge to release his psychic focus and grant disadvantage on the save.
Psychic Hammer force damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9
Strength Save DC 15 at disadvantage or take that damage and moved 10 feet out of the room.
You can’t use this feature if you can’t use your psychic focus.
Urth Stormraven
Urth steps away again from the rat swarm and poisons them again. "Venenum!"
Poison Spray DC 15 Con save: 2d12 ⇒ (10, 6) = 16

Nice Lyr, that would work on the first attack and cause her followup bite to not be able to be used (requires grappled target or some other stuff). So the bite would become an unarmed strike and hit, the second unarmed strike missed so Ill let that stand.
Dmg: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 bludgeoning
Lyraath zips into a diminuitive form right out of her grasp, but as he reforms the vampire gets one last strike before he unleashing his full psionic burst...

Str vs Lyr, dis: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 fail
The vampire starts to feel her feet slide on the floor, but her recent draught of goliath blood fuels her fury to stand resolute. Using 2/3 of her legendary resistances to succeed at the save. She knew the darkness would be her chainmail, a comfortable black silk shroud to tear the party apart one by one...
Rat Con vs Urth: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Meanwhile outside the rats annoyingly seem particularly hardened against another followup poison attack from the young sailor...
Round 6:

Lyraath, Molok, Godric, Urth, Narnel <---UP
Molok Granite Fist
Molok turns back to the undead horror and strikes at the creature with all his heart.

Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 = 13
Godric Alden
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Not at all. It’s a hard fight and I was waiting for an opportunity to be of use besides for disadvantaged cantrips or stabbing myself.
As Molok swung Godric opened his ‘eyes’ to see the undead before him. Piercing the darkness took all of his effort, but it was worth it. He pointed his revelations out to Molok, guiding his strikes in the darkness.
Aid action, gives advantage. No disadvantage roll needed!
GM Infinity
The vampire suddenly alights in Godric's divine sight, the paladin can almost hear the Raven Queen *gasp* in hunger...the corporeal form of Ctenmiiri is swollen plump with the essence of memories, a millennia worth perhaps, the bright aura a beacon through the shadows. It was quite clear, both through insightful connection with the mistress and just dumb logic, the Raven wanted this creature utterly destroyed.
Godric, Divine Sense and Help are both actions. Do you have something that gives you 2?
Godric Alden
Ah...just help then. The divine sense will be fluffy to explain how he is helping. Does that work?
Narnel Falerathon
I thought Godric was aiding this attack by me, thus negating advantage.
Round 6, Kensei's Shot, Blessed, Deft Strike (1 ki), aided

Aid action only works on one ally, so if he used it on Molok it would not work for Narnel. But a bigger issue for Narnel is that the vampire moved into the corner and is no longer able to be targeted from his current position. You could walk past the rats into the darkness, provoking, I suppose.
GM Infinity
Narnel rushes past the rats, and Urth, trying to get into the room for a clear shot...

Somehow in the chaos and total pitch blackness of the chamber, the vampire's position is signaled to Narnel, but in the final anaylsis he is just guessing.
The vampire gazes at Molok, the audacity to return and face her obviously wavering the ancient undead. She tears at his throat once again, trying to quickly finish the job...

Molok Granite Fist
Grappled by the creature once again, Molok attempts to turn the tables on the creature and drag it out into the corridor and the light.
OK, so I need to grapple and then I can move, with the vampire outside the room...is that correct?
Grapple: 1d20 + 8 + 1d4 ⇒ (16) + 8 + (3) = 27
GM Infinity
Its 2 checks Molok, 1st is to escape her grapple then the 2nd is to grapple her. You can then move dragging it along at half speed. So you got the first and are free again, now you need a second to grab her. The DC will be my opposed roll. Then you can take your move action wherever.
Opposed Grapple: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Lyraath
Lyraath stares intently at the vampire, his vision shifting to see the auras surrounding her. Then he gathers up another bundle of thought and rage and blasts it at the creature.
Bonus Action to use Aura Sight (Assess Foe) to find out current hp, immunities, resistances, and vulnerabilities. Might have been handy earlier, but I hadn't used it yet and forgot I had it. Oops! But handy now to see how close we are. Then hit her with a maxed out Psionic Blast.
Psionic Blast: 6d8 ⇒ (1, 7, 8, 7, 3, 7) = 33
GM Infinity
Lyraath probes the vampires spiritual residues for clues...
She has 50/144 hp the moment before the blast. She has resistances to Necrotic and nonmagical Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing. Her weakness are running water, sunlight, stakes to the heart in a coffin, and inability to enter a residence uninvited. She also enjoys long walks on the beach and her favorite color is clear.
...before sending a delocalized vortex of spacetime shredding across her back.
Those able to see in the hallway almost immediately see some of the wounds closing in on themselves, healing...
As Molok holds her tightly she just grins and squeezes him back gently "Oooh, honey...I'd like a bath, fetch me some hot mud for my complexion, yes?" Molok, save vs charm DC 17
The rats continue to harry Urth...
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Round 8:
Enemies(grappled)
Lyraath, Molok, Godric, Urth, Narnel <---UP
Urth Stormraven
"Oh hello there, Transformo!" Urth smiles and casts polymorph trying to get the vampire to shrink down to a soft shell turtle.
Cast Polymorph DC 15. Use Portent for her to roll a 6 on her save.
If she goes, she pops back if you do damage to her.
Godric Alden
With the vampire finally in the open, Godric tired two blasts of Eldritch Power (!) at her:
Hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 9
Hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 8
The two blasts smashed into her with the fury of the Raven Queen. If he had a mouth to smile then he would have.
I think that anyone within Godric’s aura adds Cha bonus to saves, right? Don’t think Molok is in, but something to keep in mind. +4 all saves is handy
GM Infinity
Urth, she will use her final legendary resistance to auto succeed. That is the last time she can do that. Portent is still used up.
The vampire embracing Molok as she gets choked out cricks her neck towards Urth and sickly vomits a single scale from a turtle shell.
Molok, grappling her doesn't restrict you from attacking, even with a 2 handed weapon. If you want to make her prone, say because you want advantage, you could. It is part of the Shove action and requires another contested Str Athletics roll. You could then use your extra attack to make an immediate followup with advantage. Number to beat for success:
Contested vs Shove: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Godric ran up and attempted to punch the mist...
Hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Smite Evil: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 8) = 12
GM Infinity
We were still in init with Narnel and Lyr to go, but its probably alright at this point, lets just roll with it.
From out of the darkness comes the shining, transdimensional fist of Godric shearing through the equally ethereal vampiric mist. There is clearly a reaction of the vapors with his divine energies, but no sound. The mist recoils and flutters upward, over the heads of the party and back towards the boiling mud geysers.
Legendary action to move without AoO. The ceiling in this little corridor is 10 ft high.

Round 7, Kensei's Shot, Blessed, Deft Strike (1 ki)
Narnel aims and fires his longbow again, this time at th er escaping mist.
LB Att: 1d20 + 7 + 1d4 ⇒ (14) + 7 + (1) = 22
LB Dam: 1d8 + 4 + 1d4 ⇒ (2) + 4 + (1) = 7

LB Dam: 2d8 + 4 + 2d4 + 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 + (1, 2) + (2, 1) = 15
GM Infinity
Narnel's final arrow seems to stick in mid air as its blessed particulate matter begins to bond with the necrotic energies of the vapor, and in a brief implosion it vanishes in an ashless fireball. The rats sniff at the air a few moments before returning to the little hole they came from. Soon all is quiet but for the bubbling and churning of the mud echoing through the low rumbling halls of the volcano.
Combat Over.
