So I have realized this error in my book for sometime and thought 'eh no big deal, I'll just check the PRD and see how they resolved it.' To my surprise it still has NOT been fixed.
In the Appendix of the "Ultimate Equipment" PRD and hardcopy, there is an error under the Random Weapon chart. The numbers jump and leaves dead space.
62–63 Quarterstaff
64–65 Rapier
85–87 Spear
88 Trident
As you can see, 66 to 84 are missing and with no weapons, which should at least fit scimitar and a few other weapons in there.
I hope this can be addressed soon.
Thanks

Here you go:
66-84: GM's selection.
Fixed!
No seriously, good catch, though. It's not exactly a critical flaw, just an omission I'm sure they can correct in a later printing and the PRD.
It's a huge book, and somewhat more detail-driven than most, which makes it very challenging from a publishing standpoint, I suspect.

Yea, I noticed that. Personally I just reroll results in the 66-84 range, but I'd hope they could fill in the gap with other weapons that aren't already on the chart.
A huge error that makes the book unusable, because everybody uses the random weapons chart at least once per hour during the game. :P
This may be hard for you to imagine, but many of us who spend money on RPG books do so because we intend to actually use what we buy. If we can't use a book or portion of a book, that's a good reason not to spend money on it.

As a customer at the time, I recall that the charts showed up in a preview, and Jason released a fill-in for the missing section of that chart in the preview thread (iirc before the book came out):
66 sai
67 sap
68-69 scythe
70-73 shortbow
74-75 shortspear
76-80 shortsword
81 shuriken
82 sickle
83–84 sling

You see, I use them as colouring books. Your arguments are lost on me, I am butterfly, I fly through the sky!

So am I reading that wrong or are there still no scimitars in this updated list?

I noticed that too. So I just took out sai and sap and made 66-67 scimitar.... I mean honestly, how many times in pre-printed adventures have you seen a magical sap?
