The OOC thread for the campaign.

I know Doomguide and Saithor both playing "middle eastern" style characters met on their journey across the great sand sea. Perhaps when they arrived in the west lands as they would see it they met up with one or more of the rest of you; who agreed to serve as a guide. Help with the local customs, slang, not getting strung up as infidels by superstitious country folk, etc..

From there they continued west through the Concordance of Duchies know to be as different as their rulers, Beyond that The Drayloch Hills and on to the Kingdom of Maythandra. Only recently have they arrived in Thraydria's northern border region passing through the foothills of the Blackheart Mountains. When they came to the little outpost on the border they were more than obliged to point out the local noble Baron Saben had recently put out the call for hearty folk who feared not danger for good coin. No you can't miss Heron Falls tis straight up the road my friends biggest town for over a hundred miles it is.

I exist!

Male Half-Orc Bloodrager (inactive)

My childhood is unknown to me. I only clearly remember my past few years. My late boss found me, an escaped slave by all accounts, at Death's door in the wilderness. I became his bodyguard. I lost that cushy job when he passed away not long ago.

I am at your service, as a bodyguard and a guide. When defending my friends, I am implacable. But I'm not foolish. I carry weapons that can trip or disarm: guisarme, spiked chain, and a heavy flail. I also have daggers and a sling to fight from a distance.

You can count on me when it comes to fighting!

I look forward to seeing what Heron Falls has to offer!

pugno ergo sum (I fight, therefore I am)

Male Human Inquisitor (spellbreaker) of Sarenrae 1

Hello fellow travelers, I am Julius, a Protector of Desna, what bring you in our wondrous country?"

Julius smile and extend his hand to the group of vary travelers that he find at the camping spot beside the road ad dusk.

"I see that some of you come from distant lands, would you like to share some tale of your homeland around the fire?
I can share some tea or wine."

Your characters would be happier if Julius was a follower of Sarenrare? That was the other deity I was considering, so switching wouldn't be a problem. So far my characters in Golarion [I know we aren't there] have been followers of Desna, so it is becoming a bit of a rut.

@DM Mode Activated
In the normal list of professions, Profession (guide) don't exist. You think that it would be a good idea to take it or Knowledge (geography) would be better?

I have brought tea and wine, I will update the character description when I know what skill is better to be a guide

M Wizard (Admixture) 2 | HP 14/14 | AC 11 (10ff 11tch) +4 w/Mage Armor | +2 fort +1 ref +3* will | init +1 perc+0 | Resource Tracker

Keith Flint reporting for duty. I'll fix up his character sheet later.

@Julius both of those deities sound perfectly fine. Sarenrare might be a nice change of pace?

Keith is generally gregarious, so he may well have met some of the party already.

Male Human Inquisitor (spellbreaker) of Sarenrae 1

Changed the faith to Sarenrae and updated the background to reflect that.
Final draw, I have made some change tot eh equipment too. Noticeable change: I have brought a mule.

That is fine Julius. Profession guide or know geography are both valid each would have their own advantages I suppose but either would accomplish the basic tasks you seek to accomplish. Did everyone take max gold for there class? I was thinking Ûzorgráng had said 150 I believe. If you didn't please do so. You all may make any additional purchases you would like. I will most likely post try and get the gameplay thread up and running tonight after I get off work.

If you are traveling with our Serenrae contingent, or wish to be from the area or come in on your own it is ok. Have a good all. I am looking forward to the game.

Male Half-Orc Bloodrager (inactive)

@DM Mode:

Okay, I maxed out my cash. I actually read the the rules about starting cash for a change. Bloodragers maximum starting cash is 180 GP. And a free outfit (clothing) worth 10 PG or less. So, I'll treat that as a free Explorer's outfit and an extra 30 GP cash.

So, I've just added one whole magic item: a potion of Infernal Healing (for an emergency). That should leave me with 5 GP and 1 SP in cash.

I wanted to wait to mention the gold thing till the party was selected I didn't want folks who didn't make the cut to fret over how to spend extra gold. Sounds good Ûzorgráng.

Male Half-Orc Bloodrager (inactive)

A heavily armed Half-Orc, with large tusks, approaches the assembled travellers. He seems oddly nervous, in spite of his formidable appearance.

Hello! I am Ûzorgráng. I'm a bodyguard, but my boss died, and I am looking for work. As you can see, I am robust and ready for trouble. You can depend on me to help you in a fight!

I just need to get used to the formatting of text for a PbP game, which is still a bit new to me.

Male Human Bard (Arcane Duelist) 2 [ HP 15/15 (0 NL) | AC 17 Tch 13 FF 14 | Fort +1 Ref +6 Will +2 | CMD 17 | Init +3 | Perc -1 | Effects: None]

Ashar is a tall wiry man with bronzed skin and many sparkling earrings, bracelets and other bangles. He inserts a somewhat related story between every suggestion or comment. All with varying levels of fact and fiction.

This gathering is truly the work of the gods, as who would expect 4-6 such varied persons of such great destiny to find each other so quickly in a tavern. We shall become famous and fabulously wealthy. I am sure of it!

Female Human Cleric of Sarenrae 2

Shyr is a medium sized woman with tanned skin in a chain shirt, and has a scimitair belted by her side and a crossbow slung across her back.

Some travelling companions would always be welcome. Although that does depend on what your destination is.

I'm ready when everyone else is

M Wizard (Admixture) 2 | HP 14/14 | AC 11 (10ff 11tch) +4 w/Mage Armor | +2 fort +1 ref +3* will | init +1 perc+0 | Resource Tracker

I've swapped out some alchemists fire for a few scrolls, and set up a resource tracker spreadsheet. I'm now good to go!

A well heeled gentlemen approaches a with a broad grin, "Ah some new faces! That's what I always like about traveling, never quite sure who you'll meet. Well I'm forgetting my manners, the I'm Keith traveling to answer the clarion call of good old Baron Lumont. I hear he's having some trouble with, well I'm not quite sure what exactly but I'm sure I can help! Oh you're here to help Baron Lumont too? Oh how marvelous, I'm sure we shall get on like a house on fire..."

Male Human Inquisitor (spellbreaker) of Sarenrae 1

"Baron Lumont has problems? Interesting. You have more informations mister Keith?
I was hoping to hear tales of distant lands, but this can be even better. "

Julius is a young man with black hairs, brown eyes and a wide smile.
At a respectable 5' 10" (about 178 cm) he is higher than the average person, but the first things that people notice are his broad shoulders.
His face unremarkable instead.

He wear a well maintained chain mail and is followed by a mule.

Female Human Cleric of Sarenrae 2

Well, he certinaly is.. eager. thought Shyr as Keith talked

This baron Lumont is havng troubles? Do you have any idea why? With luck it would be the reason she had felt compelled to come to the western lands.

You can hear plenty of tales of distant lands from me. Me and Ashar come from the Great Sand Sea. Also, did I hear you say that you are a protector of Sarenrae? What a stroke of luck! I am a cleric in service to her.

I assumed that since you changed deity to Sarenrae you meant to change it in your dialogue as well. Sorry if that bugs you.

Ok the five of you please proceed. I will bring Thorgrund in separately at this point unless he doesn't see this post first and just jumps in.

I gotta say I am already digging your roleplay and this is just the discussion thread :)

Sorry for the delay guys. Two 14 hour shifts in a busy ER makes me sleepy. Got a few days off, so I can get right to it!

DM, I can jump in when you drop the hint. Perhaps Thorgrund is returning from a job, and runs into the group (maybe once they get into some trouble?

Just a thought. And thank you for including me.

Feel free to PM me if needed.

You are perfectly right, I thought of going back and correct my speak, but it was passed more than an hour, so no editing is possible.

"Yes, I am a protector of Sarenrae, I follow the inquisitor path. My teacher was protector Colson, you have heard of him?

Oh, here is the wine I was offering. And I can make the tea if some of you want it."

Julius seem chatty and eager to please. At the same time it seem a bit shy about Shyr.

You have a good sense motive, so I suppose your character will notice this by default

Male Half-Orc Bloodrager (inactive)

I like this. New friends and money to be made too! Much more interesting than thrashing robbers every now and then … thought Ûzorgráng as he cracked his knuckles.

"Does anyone know what's expected of us? Who are these barons, anyway? I can't remember much of my own past, much less anyone else's. I for one would like to hear many stories. Is anyone hungry?"

Ûzorgráng casually pulls out a large meticulously cleaned leg bone out of a bag and shows it to everyone. He looks bewildered when nobody shows interest in it.

"Not hungry? Are you sure? Marrow is the best bit of a deer! It keeps for ages too. Oh well. I'll save it for later." With a casual shrug, he returns the bone to the bag. "Please do carry on with story-telling."

Short on social graces, yet oddly naïve, Ûzorgráng looks even more fearsome than most Half-Orcs. Stoutly built, with green skin and long well-groomed jet-black hair, he has sharp prominent 'tusks' and heavily tattooed muscular forearms. He moves unnaturally fast for someone clad in scale mail armour and carrying a large pole-arm, a heavy flail, a spiked chain, a sling with an abundance sling bullets, AND a loaded backpack.

I thought it would be fun to play a (potentially) mighty warrior who's clueless with the social graces and can't remember most of his own past.

"Baron Lumont is the lord of Heron Falls, up north near the mountains. There is a big waterfall there."

Knowledge (geography): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

I assume we have meet at a campsite along the road, a bit south of the city. It seemed a nice way to introduce my character.
Next time: take 10 on the Knowledge check :(

No worries Diego. I assumed you have been traveling with Shyr, and Ashar since they came over the sand sea. Serenrae is more commonly worshiped the farther east you go. Ûzorgráng met up with you guys somewhere along the way and Keith met you at the small inn in the last hamlet.
Thorgrund you can come into the gameplay thread when you like. If nothing else you could be waiting to see the Baron when they arrive, but if you want to meet them in Haron Falls before that feel free.

Male Half-Orc Bloodrager (inactive)

"Anyone know yet what Baron Lumont or Baron Saben want us to do for them? I hope it's more interesting, and profitable, than thrashing highwaymen."

They can meet Thorgrund at an inn in the town. Seeing him in a corner, nursing a mug of ale, his rune engraved axe leaning against the table...

Male Half-Orc Bloodrager (inactive)

"Nice axe you have there" Says Ûzorgráng, in fluent Dwarven to Thorgrund, as he casually sits in a nearby chair that groans with the combined weight of the Half-Orc and all his gear.

The Half-Orc unceremoniously inhales his own pint and wipes the foam off with a clean cloth he tucks into a pocket.

Without skipping a beat, he continues: "Me, I like using chains. Handy against bandits. Bandits are flimsy, though. No challenge. I hear there's good fights and good money near Haron Falls. We're on the way there now. How about you?"

Ûzorgráng lets go ahead and move the in character discussions to the game thread, and use this for pc questions, clarifications, and general non play discussion. I like the spirit though.

Okay, cool!

I figure once the group arrives at the inn (providing they get past the gatehouse) ;-) - Thorgrund will be in the common room.

Uzorgrang, post what you did above in the Gameplay thread, and we can go from there...nice, btw!

Thorgrund:
You could be at the gate talking with the guard if you wish Thorgrund. If not then the Thirsty Church is just inside the gates. It is ran by a retired priest of Cayden Cailen. Cool ale, fine tavern food, and a general festive atmosphere make this a favorite of locals and travelers alike. Famous for it's roast pig and sharp cheese.

Ûzorgráng lets give folks a chance to react to what I have posted the Inn is not far.

If anyone has ideas or themes they would like to explore in game please feel free to share them here. While Ashar's golden cow popped into reality with his mention of it. I do prefer to have a bit more structure shall we say, but like the cow sometimes ideas come to be more truthful than expected obviously.

Ashar:
in the future perhaps a spoilered note when you are attempting to tell a story of your own creation may be helpful :)

Female Human Cleric of Sarenrae 2

I'll get a post in later today, I won't be able to post anything big during school hours.

No worries Shyr post when you can weather has kept me home from work today normally I post more in the evenings or maybe in the morning before I head out.

Male Half-Orc Bloodrager (inactive)

Just a head's up; I'm between jobs at the moment, which means I have a bit too much time on my hands. That's the only reason I'm cranking out posts as fast as I have been.

Everyone has their own pace of course. I am sure everyone would prefer to post as often as possible. I would like to give everyone a shot to interact with a scene, or have input in major decisions. So while I don't want to move to a new scene to quickly I have no problem with those players who can post as they like in that scene. So far I like what I am seeing any questions or comments are always welcome.

M Wizard (Admixture) 2 | HP 14/14 | AC 11 (10ff 11tch) +4 w/Mage Armor | +2 fort +1 ref +3* will | init +1 perc+0 | Resource Tracker

Do you want us to keep track of all the silver spent? By the time we're level 2 or 3 it'll probably be peanuts but it's not totally insignificant at level 1.

Male Half-Orc Bloodrager (inactive)

I'm keeping track as best I can. My half-orc is pretty well skint (broke).

I am not counting coppers myself small expenditures I leave to you guys to decide unless you get robbed or something. Ûzorgráng rping his near destitute state is great if Keith has enough money he thinks nothing of spending a couple gold a day on incidentals no worries. Significant purchases we will keep track of, but up to you if you want to track the minor stuff.

M Wizard (Admixture) 2 | HP 14/14 | AC 11 (10ff 11tch) +4 w/Mage Armor | +2 fort +1 ref +3* will | init +1 perc+0 | Resource Tracker

Keith started with 14g. So he can afford to flash a bit of cash, but he'll need a job. Naturally he's supremely confident about that.

Anyway I'll start tracking the silvers.

Oh I was including the silvers in the incidentals. Like you said you have fourteen gold splashing a little coin around is no biggie for ya.
Now a month or so of being a man of means with no new income may find you in sudden dire straits as you reach for coin you may not have, but these things happen. besides can you imagine a month going by without any new coin crossing your palm?

looking back at my post I can now see where you got the misconception from and it is totally my fault. I meant counting coppers like when someone talks about counting pennies or being overly concerned with every dime spent. Hope that helps I can be bad about that sort of thing.

I was planning to let you introduce us. Do you want me to do that instead?

I will throw a post up when I get home from work give Ashar a little more time to jump in.

Male Half-Orc Bloodrager (inactive)

No problem! Ûzorgráng definitely isn't the best choice for the formalities, with the way I've had him going on.

M Wizard (Admixture) 2 | HP 14/14 | AC 11 (10ff 11tch) +4 w/Mage Armor | +2 fort +1 ref +3* will | init +1 perc+0 | Resource Tracker

I guess I'll post something soon, but it would be awesome if Ashar had a chance to first :)

M Wizard (Admixture) 2 | HP 14/14 | AC 11 (10ff 11tch) +4 w/Mage Armor | +2 fort +1 ref +3* will | init +1 perc+0 | Resource Tracker

To be clear Keith has no intention of randomly killing peasants (the idea would never cross his mind). He wants to make sure any "bandits" really are bandits, but then. Yeah. Harsh.

No worries Ashar. Sorry you had a rough weekend.

I'm here...attending disaster preparedness conference today and tomorrow. Will post soon!
