Thank you for stabilizing the guards. I have a few merciful arrows in my possession, but it is difficult to know exactly when to use them. Before we start opening doors, please allow me to search for traps.
Nokazi presses his ear to the middle door listening for what may be on the other side then examines it for traps.

Nokazi inspects the doors, then opens them, revealing a large room. Bronze walls sweep to the east and west, framing a magnificent throne room decorated with metallic mosaics that seem to shimmer and glow with their own incandescence. The throne itself is a large chiseled mass of obsidian, and it rests upon a solid brass dais shaped like a fiery sun.
An efreeti is sitting on the throne, motioning the group to come closer, then bids them halt at about 30 feet from the throne. Welcome, she says welcome to Fury's hold. I regret the circumstances under which we have to meet here. Your entry into this fortress has not gone unnoticed, and I must applaud you for your effort. As you can see though she says confidently as she points to three captured pathfinder and an oread, each standing near the back wall of the room we both have something to gain here.
Two large drakes flank the throne, and look restless. Tygora continues [b]now, we can resolve this with nobility, and come to a peaceful solution.
One of the pathfinders is making a secret pathfinder hand signal: Trap!
Aurora Evelyn
|
"Tygora, I assume?" Aurora states as she looks up at the Efreeti. "It appears your beauty has not been overly stated, however as you state this can all end bloodless. You return to your plane of existance, leaving behind all the Ifrit, Oread and our fellow pathfinder members alone and unmolested, leaving behind all the wealth you have stolen from these people and surrender everything you ever took from them and never bother them again."
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
As Aurora makes this speech she looks to the pathfinders and then back up at her.
"I am not amused that you would set a trap for us. You must think us pathfinders to be very dumb if you believed such a simple trap could decieve us. Once again I give you this offer. Leave everything and return to whatever life you had or you will see why us pathfinders are praised by the good and feared by those who seek to enslave and dominate."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26 +4 if sexually attracted and a +1 trait bonus if sexually attractive.
I HIGHLY doubt she'd give up. Even if I rolled a nat 20 I doubt she'd be like "Ok, you win. I'll leave everything and surrender and head home." but my character wants to give her the option rather than Murder-Hobo.
I see my character, Jan Westhaven at the bottom there. How'd he get caught in this mess.

The octopus hums with a low, angry voice. Slime black oozes from its pores. Its tiny eyes scan the environment for anything that might indicate a trap.

I think you already rolled K(planes) on efreeti. You can roll K(arcana) on the dragon-like cretaures
Why would I possible be interested in relinquishing my domain? And what business is it to you? I would have expected you to come with more reasonable terms, to stop this uprising you've sparked.
Aurora Evelyn
|
Aurora smirks at her words.
"This uprising is to correct the injustices you have caused to these people." She states, getting more irritated, but remaining calm and not to step forward in case the statue in front of them was part of the trap she was warned about. "You gave them what they wanted, but only to take what you wanted back from them and you continue to sit there on that throne, abusing the inhabitants, bullying them about and abducting their young to raise as your own. You know what you are, Tygoria? A parasite. A filthy little creature that sucks on the life of those who have worked hard and we are being kind enough to grant you safe passage from here."

@Nakazi Thank you. :) Really, like any writer it's the characters that are often telling me wha to say and not the reverse. Plus as she's on the side of Liberty's Edge and hates all forms of slavery it makes sense that she despises this woman, but being more on the good side she'd be willing to let her live if she took up this offer. Again, douptful though.

You wound me. Have I not granted the Oreads their wish? They only wished for a safe community, sheltered from outside influence? Is this not exactly what I granted them? I even went so far as to oversee it myself personally, as my gift to them. I have maintained this balance, and your own outside intrusions, he says as he points toward the chained pathfinders, left me with no other choice than to quickly curtail them, and act to restore the status quo. I'm am acting according to the will of the oread people, nothing more.
Now, I can grant you passage out of here, taking your kinsmen with you. You may even have this Oread councillor accompany you, I care not for his fate for as long as he is outside of the city's border and outside of the minds of the people. Do this, and I shall do what is within my powers to restore this community to its former peaceful state.

"You have this wrong. They did not ask to be scared to leave their home or have you take their kind. If you were acting upon their will, they would not have been afraid to leave before we came her and brought with us a fiery courage you and your lackeys cannot quench!" she states with a fire in her eyes as she leers up at Tygora. "We have given you this option. Unlike us, you have no true corporal body and if you defy us not only will you die, but you will no longer exist! Surrender or be destroyed."
| DM Kludde |
If that is so, let it be gone that I offered you the opportunity, and you refused it. Now, you leave me no option than to make an example for any other who would undermine my authority. Prepare to die!

Dizzy just pointed out to me that the ability has been Errata'd. Sorry I didn't realise this had happened, but I remember people complaining that the origonal version of Weird Words was over-powered. I'm still not certain what it's on about in the Errata, but from the sounds of it I should be instead deadling 8d6+12 when focusing on a single creature and now it does deal sonic damage where as the origonal description suggested you could do slashing, peircing or bludgeoning with it. I do apologise if this has messed up the battle somewhat, but I'm bookmarking this Errata for future reference.
| DM Kludde |
Yep. The errata were posted after the start of the game, and I thought it would be too messy to alter characters mid-game. Just make sure to rebuild/adjust when we're done (which should be soon at the current rate)

Without further distraction, it is a simple task to find and disarm the traps, and free the pathfinders.
Tygora lies defeated, councillor Glaheri says, what would you have us do with her?
Aurora Evelyn
|
I think we should escort her back to Venture-Captain Esmayl ibn Qaradi to decide her fate. Perhaps she has information to trade for leniency.
"Information would be very valuable for the society, but I am merely pleased we have dethroned this tyrant." Aurora walks over to the surrendered warrior and offers a hand to help stand him up. "We nor the your fellow kin will blame you or the other Ifrit for what has happened, but I hope to convince them to treat you as equals so that you can work together for mutual benefit."

Do you want to interrogate the captured Efreeti, or are you happy with liberating the pathfinders and the city, and returning home?
Aurora Evelyn

Interrogate!
Maybe there's more prisoners in this palace. We should interrogate the captured one to see what he knows.
Dizzy says, as he transforms back into humanoid form.
I second the notion!
"We will need to know where she came from. For all we know she came here is a scout of sorts. I'm more interested if she does have more prisoners so that we can free them back to the public and liberate everyone of her control." she states looking at the unconscious creature. "The pathfinders and the Councillor were clearly brought here just to attempt a bargin with us and I am certain there were others who were outspoken against her before we arrived. We can ask them to make sure though."

The efreeti, as soon as she regains consciousness after the severe beating by Nokazi, starts pleading for her life, unaware that the pathfinders never intended to kill her.
Mercy, have mercy on me! I can grant you riches! Your wildest dreams, if you but let me live!
Three wishes, I can grant them. Think of the possibilities! If you agree to let me return home, the wishes are yours!
