Obi Canicus |

Apologies for just going *poof* like that. Anyway, I see the non-lethal damage as a boost because if the non-lethal damage a creature has taken exceeds their current hit points, they fall unconscious. Flanking with a rogue wielding a sap will take down a foe far quicker than flanking with a rogue wielding a rapier.
Trying again for the mite closest to him, Obi throws another small orb of fire between Torod and Eadric..
Fire Bolt(Ranged Touch) at Mite D6:1d20 + 5 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 5 - 4 - 4 = 16
Fire Damage:1d6 ⇒ 6

Eadric Cuthwulf |

As for non-lethal vs lethal damage? It really makes no difference. The total amount of damage needed to incapacitate a foe does not change regardless of the type of damage done. Let's say that you are fighting something with 100 HP. If you deal it 101 HP of lethal damage it becomes unconscious and dying. If you are dealing it non-lethal damage, it still requires 101 HP of non-lethal damage to knock it unconscious (and it isn't dying).
If you are dealing a mix of lethal and non-lethal, the total damage still needs to equal 101 to knock it unconscious. Let's say that the creature has taken 80 HP of lethal damage, its current HP is now 20. You still need to do 21 HP of non-lethal to knock it unconscious. (20 damage, instead if 21 would just stagger it, the same as if you were reduced to 0 HP via lethal damage) There is no short cut here, you either have to do 21 non-lethal or you have to do 21 lethal to take it down. Total damage done still equals 101.
The key is to remember that non-lethal damage does not actually reduce your HP. Non-lethal damage is tracked separately from your HP and is added up. As HP fall due to lethal damage and non-lethal damage rises, whenever they equal each other you become staggered. When they pass each other, you fall unconscious.
Does that make sense?

Eadric Cuthwulf |

Eadric ducks a little as a fiery projectile whistles part his ear, flying directly at the mite in front of him... watching to see if it hits the little ugly blue headed creature.
Out of the corner of his eye he spies Ellaria and the tick, with its sleeping rider, unsure as to what will transpire between them...
;)

Ellaria |

Kenderkin: I can see the map you have linked. I don't know why the earlier image service was blocked though.
Ellaria steps backward and begins casting a spell. Her eyes glow blue as she mutters arcane words. After a few seconds, she points in the general direction of the sleeping mite, and his eyes begin to glow blue as well.
Ellaria will move and try to cast Charm Person without triggering an AOO.

KenderKin |
The mite from atop the tick gestures for Ellaria to come to the table he is humming to himself and pouring something from a pot into bowls.
The tick has retreated to the farthest portion of the area....
The soup looks like brackish water with dirt and sediment, also with fungi and other bits of no telling what floating in it.
Soups on!
The remaining mite looks perplexed and confused as he stands in front of Eadric.....

KenderKin |
The mite seems to know some sylvan and shows off a bag of stuff he refers to as "spoils of war"
An ivory statuette depicts a crouching
horned devil is acting as a paper weight on the table...A tattered peice of paper penned in charcoal
the paper consists of two columns, one labeled “Us” and
one labeled “Them.” The “Us” column lists only two
things: “kobold statue” and “lots of spears and coins.” The
“Them” column lists “magic dust,” “lots of coins” and
“shiny human ring.”
A burlap sack leans against the table leg
12 Small spears, 193 cp, 120 sp, and 32 gp.

Eadric Cuthwulf |

Eadric isn't sure what to do with himself... so he moves quickly to put his back to the wall at a spot from which he can watch both tunnels, both mites and the tick. He stands ready to intervene if hostilities resume...
As Eadric's eyes dart back and forth from tunnel to tunnel, he whispers at Ellaria, Whatever you are doing, do it quick! I am sure that this is not the sum total of the mites down here! The rest have surely heard the commotion and will be joining us shortly, and I doubt they are going to be as 'friendly' as your new pal here!

Ellaria |

Ellaria smiles at the mite, then says to it "Thanks, friend", as she takes his offerings. "Me and my other friends here will continue on now", she continues. "I'd like you to help us and guard our backs. Don't let anyone - anyone - pass through this room. Whoever else comes here, whether it is mite or anything else, kill it. Putting that aside, what is deeper in there?", and gestures towards the next tunnel.
After finishing with the charmed mite, she approaches her friends. "What shall we do with the other one? I think we could tie and gag him, or something like that, while we explore deeper in. We could also take one or both of them with us, to try to avoid fights deeper in. In any case, I don't want any unnecessary deaths".

KenderKin |
The mite takes you on a tour of the rest of the complex the next room opens into...
A deep and ominous chasm splits the passage. The chasm is a few yards wide, and twice as deep, but thick ropes of tangled roots fill the entire area. The passage continues on the far side of the chasm, and between the two ledges, numerous loops have been tied into the roots to serve as hand- and footholds. The chasm is only 20 feet deep, and its rough walls make for a relatively easy DC 5 Climb check thanks to
the numerous roots hanging from the walls. The loopknotted roots between the two passageway ledges form a sort of crossing—by using the loops, a creature can clamber across the chasm with a DC 5 Climb check.
The mite warns you that..
"Some of the knots slip free...did have big bug friend heres."
Across the chasm you enter a new area....
You hear high pitched screams of someone coming from the next room...
The walls of this egg-shaped cavern are obscured by thick tangles of long, pallid roots. To the east, the chamber opens into a wide, root-filled chasm.
A group of six mites are joyously tormenting a captured Sootscale kobold—one of four black-scaled kobolds who have been tied into the roots along the wall.
The other three already hang limply by their bonds, dead from the mites’ torment. The last kobold shrieks in pain as the six mites take turns poking it with sharp sticks— each shriek eliciting a fresh wave of giggles and cheers from the mites.
Your guide turns to you and suggests...
"Fun?"
offering you a sharp stick to poke the kobold with.

Eadric Cuthwulf |

Hmmmm... torture... I wonder how some of us are going to react to that? ;)
So that is 6 new mites, our charmed friend the tour guide and possibly the tag along survivor from the last fight. That makes 7 or 8 mites. What about the tick? Is it here as well or back across the chasm?

Torod |

Torod looks on impassively at the 'fun' they are having with the kobold. If offered, he declines to take part.
In Elven: "This might be why the kobolds are causing a fuss lately. Ask him about their relations with the kobold tribes.'

KenderKin |
The tick stayed in the far room across the chasm. Eadric looks to check and indeed the other mite did tag along though he still seems confused.
The charmed kobold goes up and gives the kobold a good poke with the sharp stick, the point disappearing under the scales. The practiced mite even manages to peel the scale away, blood drains from the gash....
The kobold screams again and spotting you for the first time calls out to you in common....
"Help me!"

Eadric Cuthwulf |

Ok... I'll move things along... Eadric has seen enough.
Eadric moves up beside the charmed mite and motions like he is going to poke the kobold, remarking Your pitiless cries will not help you... but maybe this will! before swinging his sword viciously at the charmed mites neck instead...
Attack (masterwork cold iron longsword)(power attack)(smite evil): 1d20 + 6 - 1 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 6 - 1 + 3 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 + 3 = 9
Please subtract the -2 to hit if this room is cramped and -3 to hit and damage if the mite isn't evil.
...while trying to put himself between the kobold and the remaining mites.

KenderKin |
The mites are taken aback momentrily as the leader dies, but they all attack Eadric in a frenzy!

With one sharp stick banging through Eadrics defenses and poking him in the eye for 1 point of damage.

You are up!

Eadric Cuthwulf |

Eadric Cuthwulf |

It is all good KK, I'm just teasing you. :)
Eadric turns and slashes the mite in front of Obi (T5) attempting to give the casters some room to maneuver...
Attack (masterwork cold iron longsword)(power attack): 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 - 1 = 24 Critical threat

Obi Canicus |

Seeing Eadric cut a mite asunder, Obi takes a step to U6 and tosses a ball of fire at one of the mites(S5) surrounding Eadric.
Fire Bolt:1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 5 - 4 = 21

Ellaria |

Ellaria sighs as Eadric kills the charmed mite, as he did seem friendly enough and could have been of more use. She steps back while the rest of the mites attack Eadric, and starts chanting arcane words while making strange gestures, pointing in the general direction of the mites.
Cast Sleep on the mites.

Eadric Cuthwulf |

KenderKin |
Three of the mites attempt to stab Eadric what else is new.. with their steely knives!
"Dies kobold lovers!"

A couple of close calls there Eadric, but your new armor is working!
The other two mites target Torod and Obi with Doom
please make a will save DC 10

Eadric Cuthwulf |

Eadric continues his assault upon the mites, attacking one of the mites surrounding him... (T4)
Attack (masterwork cold iron longsword)(power attack): 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 - 1 = 6
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
...but Eadric's sword gets caught up in some low hanging roots, deflecting his blow harmlessly away from his intended target.

Ellaria |

@Eadric: Yeah, but Ellaria could intervene, try to solve the situation peacefully, and maybe even manage to free the kobold without anyone getting killed. I agree that that would probably be too much to ask from a paladin seeing such a scene though.
@KK: waiting to find out the results of the sleep spell,

Torod |

The mite in T6 needs to make a Ref save (dc 15) or get scorched by a Flaming Sphere. If he manages to do that, I'll slash at him with my scimitar.
Scimitar: to hit 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Scimitar: damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Obi Canicus |

So we should have at least 3 Hero Points, right? One from being a part of the game and two for leveling?
Obi chants carefully in the language of fire as gray fire starts to writhe around his fingers. Casting Defensively(Dc17):1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8...Hero Re-Roll1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Having safely cast his spell, Obi reaches out to tap the miteU5 next to him and transfer the strange flame...
Inflict(Fiery) Light Wounds(Melee Touch Attack):1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Fire Damage:1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Um.. wow, that Hero Point does wonders! It might not matter, but he needs to make a Dc14 Will save and, if he fails, he catches fire.
