Torod's burst finlly catches the worm!

Eadric is up!
Eadric Cuthwulf
Eadric lets out a sigh of relief as the wyrm succumbs to its wounds. He steps closer to the wyrm and swiftly removes its head for its return to Oleg's. Eadric holds the head aloft to examine his handiwork before turning to Torod, I believe just the two of us are injured. I have a few scratches and you took a little tumble there.
I also have my LOH to use.
But I can manage my own wounds if you wish to hold some of your restorative magic in reserve.
Eadric looks upon the skeleton and tries to determine the best way of retrieving and/or searching it without falling into the rushing water.
Whoever this chap was, we should give him a proper burial. Maybe we can identify him from his belongings and send word of his fate to his loved ones.
KenderKin
The retrieval of the skeleton reveals a bit more than you first thought it might.
The skeleton still wears what Imiria says if a suit of +1 scale mail, while clutched in one bony hand is a masterwork cold iron longsword (also according to Imiria).
Perception check
DC 20
.....reveals additional treasure in the
rubble and mud below the skeleton within a rotting leather
backpack that contains 38 gp, 520 sp, a pewter drinking
stein worth 12 gp, a silver ring worth 35 gp, a jade carving
of a nude female elven monk worth 85 gp, and a watertight
scroll tube. Inside the tube is a partially completed map of
the northwest corner of the Greenbelt that seems to indicate
that the explorer approached from the north, reached
the source of the Skunk River, and was working his way
downriver.
Eadric Cuthwulf
Eadric uses his divine boon to heal his injuries...
LOH
1d6 ⇒ 1
1d6 ⇒ 6
1d6 ⇒ 1
1d6 ⇒ 3
...restoring him to full health.
He examines the scale armor and longsword, taking a few practice swings with the sword. Fine craftsmanship! The both of them. And you say the armor is mage touched? I think that I shall put these fine items to good use in our cause. Something perhaps our fellow here was also interested in. Exploration of the Greenbelt! Eadric gives a prayer of thanks before...
...fetching his shovel from his horse and digging a grave, placing the skeleton within it and offering a prayer to Pharasma on behalf of the deceased.
With that finished Eadric takes out the party's map and confers with the others on the next plan of action. Suggestions anyone?
We could divy up the treasure right now if that is easier? Or do we wish to wait til we can sell some of the items? I'll add the sword and armor to Eadric for now.
Obi Canicus
Completely uninterested in the items*, Obi gives his horse a pat for getting him here so quickly and then not running from the battle. He'd have to get it a suger cude or something else sweet once they returned to Oleg's.
*Obi doesn't want anything from this bit of loot. I don't think we should let the tatzylworms go to waste though. Maybe some nice boots or a cloak? Surely if they were swimming they would be waterproof.
Imiria
Imiria goes down and checks out the two worms, she climbs upon the worms and looks at the teeth, tongues, etc....
She talks to herself for a bit of time, then without warning the second worm dives into the river and swims away......
"That one was not dead so I healed him and told him no more people eating!"
Eadric Cuthwulf
Eadric shakes his head at Imiria's actions. Perhaps you should consult with the rest of us before taking such actions Imiria. How can you trust that this creature will adhere to your demands? Releasing such a dangerous predator is something that shouldn't be done on a whim. Any innocents it kills in the future... well... they are on your soul now.
Eadric turns his attentions back to the map and discussion about what to do next...
Torod
"Lying to her is the worst thing you can do right now, Eadric." Torod admonishes. "Imiria, what you did was dangerous and the tatzlworm will hunt and eat whatever prey it wants for that is its way. If she had not been injured already, she probably would have snapped you up right then. Even though you have Power, the world is still a place of dangers. You must stay mindful of that if you are to have the time to Grow."
Eadric Cuthwulf
What lie have I spoken? It is the truth. I doubt the wyrm will keep to Imiria's demands and it will assuredly kill again. It is its nature. I doubt it will avoid people in the future. In fact it may seek out retribution for our actions here today, slaying its mate. Imiria must take responsibility for her actions. Any future deaths would weigh heavily upon my conscious... and if that type of thing doesn't weigh upon Imiria's then... Eadric's voice trails off.
It is a figure of speech. They won't literally be on your soul... but I fail to see the difference...
Any ideas for what we are to do next? Where are we on the map? Any unfinished business?
Ellaria
Ellaria frowns as Imiria heals and releases the second wyrm, clearly irritated. "I fail to see the point in us battling something dangerous and then healing it and releasing it once again into the wilds. We were supposed to clear this area of these monsters", she says to no one in particular, letting her voice trail off.
Ellaria won't take any of the loot as well - no use for it.
Torod
"Then I offer my apologies for my misunderstanding. It seems we were, essentially, telling her the same thing." Torod will take his fair portion of the treasure. He's also willing to take the others as well, if they don't want any. Better yet, we can donate their shares to the cleric to refurbish the temple of Erastil as well as to Oleg to help upkeep and even expand the tradepost.
Eadric Cuthwulf
No worries my friend. I think we are in agreement more often than we sometimes realize. We just take different paths to the same truths! Eadric adds with a smile and a wink.
Eadric secures the wyrm's head upon his horse before donning the scale mail and trading the cold iron sword with the longsword in his scabbard. He then adds his old armor and sword to his saddlebags.
Mounting up he circles his horse around, You can do what the groups wishes with the coin and other belongings... the temple could indeed use the help. Now.... where to next? Perhaps we should head east to the Thorn river, mapping as we go and then make our way to that large tree we spotted and meant to investigate. Thoughts?
Have we explored this hex we are in? Do you have an up to date map KK? If not map it and then exit edge 2. Sound good to everyone? Other suggestions?
Any idea where we are XP wise? Would be nice to level. ;)
KenderKin
It seems that you have cleared this hex of anything out of the ordinary, edges 1, 2, 3, and 4 are all unexplored hexes....
The map he carried shows the area from Oleg's over towards the Barbarian Cairn (although he did not find it) all the way down to your location currently......
He did find the temple, the frog pond and the statue.
Intend you guys to level at some point before the final battle...I already have the second pdf (part 2) and I like it!
Eadric Cuthwulf
We sure do like our time at Oleg's huh? We just left there yesterday morning... but if we are to return to Oleg's we should get going... we might just make Jhod and the temple by nightfall if we hurry.
By my rough calculations it is an 18 hour ride from Oleg's to the temple (by way of the Thorn river camp crossing). It is 4 hours from the tatzlwyrm crossing to the boggard's lair and 6 1/2 hours from the boggard's to the temple.
Assuming that we start heading back to Oleg's via the temple......Eadric mumbles to himself as they ride along, Are they planning to stuff and mount the head? They could just as easily pick it clean and bleach it... mounting it that way...
;)

Random Encounter!
As you are on the bottom of this map changing armor and loading up the worm's head, bandits all the way across the river on the point of land jutting towards your side of the river fire longbows at each of you!

Killing anything I can find? Whatever are you talking about Imiria? I have not killed anything that did not attack us first or prey upon the innocent. And in fact I have advocated quite the opposite tact in many encounters out here in the Greenbelt. Like the boggard, the kobolds, the wild boars, the fey dragon and the faerie... Besides all that, it is our mandate to explore and make safe these lands. I am fulfilling my sworn duty and I plan to continue to do so despite your interferences. Not that I would expect a child to know of such things. In fact, what am I even doing, explaining myself to a child? Bah! Eadric throws his hands up in frustration, before adding, If you are going to continue accompanying us on our expeditions, you would be right to change your expectations! We aren't out for a Sunday stroll in the county...
Why is it the two PBPs I am playing Eadric in, both currently have me arguing with children? :P
Eadric's conversation with Imiria is cut short as the arrows streak in from the far bank. Ambush! The tree line on the far bank! Get to cover if you can!
Eadric retrieves his own bow and looks for a target for a return shot...

He decides to fire an arrow at Eadric

Roll to confirm critical
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
No critical!
Damage
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
It is the last choice the bandit makes in this life as a tatzlwyrm pounces upon the bandit, burying him and finishing him off.
In the distance the wyrm kills the other bandits as well.
Imiria smirks at Eadric......
OK you guys can level to 3rd!
Ellaria
Ellaria smiles as the bandits fall asleep because of her spell. She does seem surprised as the probably-released wurm kills the bandits by itself. Turning to the others, and nervously glancing back at the site where the wurm last appeared, she says: "What now? Back to the plan of Oleg's via the temple?"
2nd level spells! I leveled Ellaria.
Eadric Cuthwulf
Eadric fires his arrow at the Tatzlwyrm... :P
Attack (longbow): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
...and returns Imiria's smirk...
Levelling up... ;)
Edit: I was trying to remember how we were doing HP and checked Ellaria for a hint. Are we doing max HP at each level?
Eadric Cuthwulf
I let fly my arrow at the wyrm for the same reasons we spoke but a few moments ago... it is a dangerous creature, evidenced by the fact it just ripped those men apart... or do you propose that the wyrm is now somehow brought to heel by us and only attacked the bandits out of gratitude of Imiria's healing touch? Like some wild dog harshly rebuked and now looking to protect and please its new master?
I think not my good friend. It attacked those men because they were weakened and vulnerable... and it would do the same to any other creature it so encounters in the future. Including us. Mark my words, we will yet be forced to put that wyrm down, for good, when next it makes attack upon us.
Obi Canicus
So do I got a back-up if Obi fights Imiria? I'll help you atone later if you need to! ;)
Obi cringes ever so slightly when he realizes he was heard, but he forces himself to relax.
"It's a stupid way, but it's better than no way." He says. "At least no one is keeping it all on the inside. Last time I did that I burned down a house."
He smiles.
"Best accident ever." He whispers as his hand goes to his scarf.
