The SF2e launch is a bit of an odd place; it mirrors the PF2e Remaster book structure, but doesn't have its own non-remastered book to fill the gap, so it uses PF2e for that. That's fine for home games, but organized play only has a few PF2e options for SFe2.

I already wrote in another comment in the thread how to transition characters between SF1e and SF2e, but I will add that I really haven't had to deal with character issues too much since I've been GMing full-time after my first 2 SF2e games. As a GM, I have a few times replaced or reflavor an NPC to be a SF1e species I hadn't had a chance to play in SF1e, and that is not available in SF2e. I haven't done that with PF2e options yet, but it's something I'm likely to try.

Out of curiosity, what are the current PF2E options for SF2E in society? Or where can I find them? I just play and run home games, so don't interact with society rules enough to know them to any intermediate extent. But I didn't even expect SF2E to have any PF2E options at all at this point.

Through spending ACP on boons:

Expanded Summoning - Pathfinder Monster Core. This character gains access to creatures from Pathfinder Monster Core for the purposes of summoning spells.

The PF2e legacy core ancestries (before Galtic Ancestries came out). Now I think you can use the boon to get the PF2e heartages.

Expanded Options–GM Core Runes This character gains access to runes from Pathfinder GM Core for use on archaic items.

The Expanded Summoning helped a lot before the Alien Core book came out.
The core ancestries gave us more ancestries at launch.
I don't remember if Rune access was available at launch.

So there has always been a little bit of peanut butter in Starfinder. I'm hoping for Expanded Summoning - Peanut Butter Monster Core 2.

I've been playing a War Mage Wizard (class archetype from Battlecry) with SF2 gear (like the revolver, wing augment, and grenades). The combats aren't really very Ranged Meta, but when they are, a little bit of clever positioning combines with Force Bolt and Bespell Strike to be a very funny combo. Even with the Tech Core spoilers around Technomancers, I am not ready to give this build up because War Mage's 2nd level class archetype feat has this absolutely nutty forced movement rider that I am not giving up. But I like tech spells (and a lot of PF2 spells like Warping Pull, Echo Jump, and Hop Skip Jump are very very fun to use in bigger maps).

Been low-key looking at the elf ancestry that gives a multiclass dedication for a SFS character. That is pretty slick!

I am really pleased to see the Starfinder novels including a champion as a character, referred to as a champion, and having champion-like powers. It's a great way to hammer in just how thematic Pathfinder classes can be in Starfinder.

Look, sometimes you need your Space Paladin, to, like, actually be a Paladin. And hey, there's a reason the Core books give domains for all the mentioned deities despite no Starfinder class actually getting domain abilities.

Dark Archive

What we really need are some good holodeck scenarios... But Worf definitely a space Paladin

Speaking of which, do you figure champions need an adjustment in the Ranged Meta? Specifically referring to the defensive reactions requiring both the enemy and ally to be in your aura. I wonder if loosening this requirement to an either-or is enough.

There was someone on Reddit who did some playtesting (https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfinder2e/comments/1n1a06d/crosscompatibility_ report_champions/) of how the selfless Champion causes felt in SF2e. In summary, if you add a second heavy-hitting frontliner (they tested with a Barbarian, but I could see a melee Soldier also working fine) it was pretty good, and the simplest solution for the squishier characters was to just also stick with the frontliners, relying on the Champ's reaction and some body-blocking to stay safe in close quarters. Apparently there was a 6hp caster reliably getting in melee and not dying? Downside is that everyone wants movement compression and AOE effects really suck.

I think the selfish causes might actually do better in SF2e, without requiring the rest of the party to build to support them? If you're the only melee target, the opportunity costs of the enemy hitting you rather than walking away (and taking a Reactive Strike) are weighed pretty differently. Obviously you'll want to have some healing support, but considering how easily Mystics handle void healing, playing an undead and using touch of the void on yourself looks like a pretty reasonable strat?

Definitely looking at a couple of classes to fill out some gaps for my regular non society games. Monk or Martial Artist Archetype is definitely one of them to add martial arts to the game which currently doesn't really have much flavour in that respect. Also Alchemist in the absence of the Biohacker although that might need a bit of reskinning.

Will probably see how those two go before I decide on anything else.

I haven't done much of this mixing, apart from my GM for one of the playtest adventures allowing some PF2 equipment (like PF-only aeon stones). But I did have a silly character idea last night that would probably work best as a PF2 class: a novian ranger named Finder Star the Starfinder.

I want to add that the captivator archetype (in PF2e Impossible Magic) seems to work pretty well on a luminary (SF2e playtest), both thematically and mechanically. The captivator archetype even mitigates the limitations on innate spells' proficiency progression (for the captivator innate spells, at least).

I have a PF2e I have mirror implement Thaumaturge, whose mirror is made from meteorite iron, named Iron Starfinder. The GM looked surprised when I said I was going to play a Starfinder character in a Pathfinder Society game. Astronomy is the oldest science, so it seems appropriate to have starfinder characters in Pathfinder.

I was thinking it would be fun to start the Starfinder Guild in Pathfinder, then I just remembered, hey, we can write Pathfinder Infinite scenarios now!

Novian named Finder Star the Starfinder is pretty funny. My mirror implement, Thaumaturge, upon meeting your Novan, would have to say If you are looking for stars, have you looked in a mirror?

Speaking of Novians, I had a Xenometric (Novian) Android character idea of them being a fire/metal kineticist. Flavoured as a living reactor core.
