quick bomber and abundant vials

Rules Discussion

dose the quick bomber alchemist feat be used to throw a quick vial as part of the extra action gained at lvl 17 from abundant vials class feat? quick bomber can be used to make a quick vial or other alchemy and throw it, so wouldn't you be able to use it for the action gained for only quick vials via abundant vials if you just making a quick vial?

I would point you to Subordinate Actions.

Abundant Vials gives you the Quickened condition with the restriction that the action can only be used on Quick Alchemy. You cannot substitute the granted Quick Alchemy action for the Quick Bomber action to use that instead.

ah I see ok thank you. so it seems this granted quickened action class feature is useless, most alcemicalmist will take quick bomber and doesn't help action economy at all. better to use quick (free) vials with a normal action cuz you'll still need an normal action to throw or use. guess the only use is getting one to feed or drink as chirurgeon, but you don't need to feed them you can throw them. Just seems vary underpowered for a 17th lvl ability, you can't use this bounus action to do anything by itself cuz the vial is gone after your turn you have to use another action to do anything with it.

Ha ha, yup.

The old one was even worse, letting you spend 1A to make 3 items at a time. In a system where you now only have 2 actions left to use them...

At least this remastered version is "real Quickened 1."
Meaning it's best usage is completely unrelated to the supposed selling point.

The Abundant Vials feature is more useful to permanently cancel out any incoming Slow 1 than it is for the quick vials it can make.

It's not useless since if you need to make an elixir or something you can use it for that, then use a normal action to activate/use it. Still leaves you with 2 actions left.

It's not great, for sure.

Nope, it specifies a "quick vial" which means no "create consumable" allowed.

After the errata, Muta might have the least useless option, as suppressing a drawback for 1 min might be worth the 1A drink. Some mutagens are considered near unusable *because* of their drawback, like Serene or Bendy-Arm.

Even if a Chir were to invest in one of the worst feat lines in the entire game for the Invigorating+ Elixir feats, you are not allowed to use Additives on your quick vials, rofl.

OP was right on the money. If the Alchemist lacks Quick Bomber, then the primary use case would be for throwing a quick freebie qVial bomb.
But since every Alchemist should get Quick Bomber... all that's left are the horrible Field Vial special actions.

I honestly don't recommend anyone play Alchemist.
Any other class with an Alch Archetype is *so* much better, that even if you want the roleplay, I'd recommend wall papering over the main class and acting as if one is a full Alch. A daily limit on your item count is well worth the trade, imo.
(And despite their direct attempt, Paizo failed to patch Firework Tech and stop its recharge from working with all alchemy, so that source of recharging alch still works)

The only function that's exclusive to Alchemist and impactful enough to build a PC around is Toxicologist's immunity override.
As odd as it sounds to recommend what is/was considered the worst Field, if a player really really wants to play with poisons, that's when it makes sense to pick Alchemist imo.

Oh wow, that's super lame. :\
