Interest check: High level, narrative, character driven, shared game(need both co-GMs and players)

Recruitment

A long, long time ago, in a forum far away, a game was ran in the infancy of both Pathfinder and my time here on the boards. Sadly, the GM eventually vanished, and it fell to us players to keep it going. We eventually put it on pause, and never picked it back up.

I would like to make a new attempt at Ambitious Hearts except this time, it will be set in Golarion. I have stories I wanna tell as both PC and GM set there, and I'm hopeful most people are familiar with that setting due to all the APs and such.

As it says in the header, I'm hoping to get at least one other person to help run this, as I will playing myself. On the off chance nobody else is willing to assist me as GM, I'll still make a character and tell my own stories, but I can refrain from taking part in the 'epic events' if the other players would prefer that(as I know GMPCs can be a touchy subject).

I won't be gettin into too many details of character creation just yet, in part because I haven't solidified them all. However, the following are a few I'm currently leaning towards:

20th level.
Gestalt(probably, as it's what I prefer most)
A feat every level.
Background skills.
At least 3 Horrifically Overpowered Feats chosen from a specific list. These will represent special powers, blessings from the gods, etc.

An important note: Please read at least the OP in the above linked post, so you have some idea of what this game will be like. Obviously, the more of the recruitment(and the discussion thread) you read, the better your overall understanding will be.

*EDIT*: Dang it, I knew there was something I was forgetting!

Right now, while I am open to 3pp material(as I love supporting my frendos in the biz!), I am currently not going to allow secondary systems like Spheres/Path of War/Psionics/etc.

With everything else goin on in this game, I think all of those extra systems might be too much.

**However**, if somebody else is willing to help run characters using those extra rulesets, I'll consider allowing them.

Bump

Sounds cook

I’m always interested in high level play, but I am *not* equipped to GM something like that. Happy to play though.

Grand Lodge

Of I got a Co DM and a few Support PCs here and there.

I have an Idea with the realms and Sigil as a back drop.

Thinking getting the Band back Together.

Would limit to Pathfinder only classes no 3pp. Forgotten Realms gods.

Core races, plus Races in the forgotten Realms Campaign Setting [Drow, Svirfnevlin, Duergar, Basically, Dieing Genasi)

Will start in Cormyr. And is getting the band back together.

No Mythic yet.

I have a couple of I getting ideas. As this is lore a story beat style game.

Grand Lodge

If not Ill be a player

I like the idea and opportunity for high level playing, but it’s already so strong around Gestalt, horrifically overpowered feats, etc. that I’d rather stay off third party materials and mythic. Other than that, it may be an interesting dynamic that we rarely get to see.

Grand Lodge

I like earning Mythic. Thats part of rhe 20th level campaign

I'm not currently intending mythic myself. We added mythic to the old game, but for now, nobody will be starting off with mythic tiers. Whether we eventually become mythic or will be something we decide on together. I won't force it on the players without their input.

As for 3pp, just to make it clear: There will be no Spheres of Power/Might/Guile, Psionics, Path of War, or Akashic or any other subsystem classes. **Unless** another player is familiar enough with those rules to run them confidently **and** the other players agree to allow them.

Rather, I'm referring to things like Legendary classes, Path of Magic classes, or the classes from Orphaned Bookworm Productions.

*However* as stated in the header, this is a shared, cooperative game. If everyone else is opposed to even that 3pp material, I'll bow to the collective.

That said, should we eventually decide on Mythic, I might have to insist on using the mythic material from Legendary Games, because it adds so much more, and includes all the stuff Paizo couldn't.

I have an idea for a Bard/Paladin or Sorcerer/Paladin. Especially if its the realms.

I plan on running this in Golarion, as I have some stories I want to tell there.

However, if you're up for running a version of this in the Realms, I have plenty of characters I can make for that as well.

And, I'll even help ya co-GM that too.

Unsure if you read any of the posts in the original recruitment/discussion, but the role of the GM is pretty much based around the 'epic content' be that plots dealing directly with the gods, potentially acquiring artifacts, leveling past 20, running 'epic events'(which I'll probably suggest be anything unique that has a CR of 20+) , etc.

Otherwise, we players tell our stories as we desire, and hopefully meet up with one another, but that's not technically required. Though, I do believe the original GM had his own epic events he planned to run that would basically drag all the players in.

**Edit** Another thing I forgot to include as far as possible 3pp content would be the races & paragon classes from Rite Publishing's In the Company Of line.

That above list wasn't everything, but just wanted to explain where my thinking is at as to what I'm okay with allowing for 3pp content.

As much as I love Spheres, PoW, Psionics, Akashic, etc, I don't have a lot of experience with those systems. Thus, I am not comfortable including them in this, as they add too much I'm unfamiliar with.

Legendary classes mostly add versatility to the core classes. Some are a lot stronger, so make boost their weaker core counterpart, but none change the game to the extent those above systems do. Same with the Breath of Life classes(for example) from Orphaned Bookworm or the Genius classes from Rogue Genius Games.

**Double the edit, double the fun?**

Just as an FYI, the main thing any co-GMs would need to do is run any epic encounters/events in addition to the ones I'll be running, so I can take part in them as well. *Unless* my fellow players don't mind my doing both, of course(as I said above, I know GMPCs can be a touchy subject for some).

Hmmm that does change things Ideal wise

As I said above, the main reason I want at least one co-GM is so I can play(aka take part in the 'epic encounters/events' ie, actual combats and such). Should you decide to run your own version of this, I'll gladly be your co-GM so you're able to play as well.

Or, maybe I'll just run two versions, one in Golarion and one in the Realms. We'll see, lol

Would Gestalt be in the classic sense where you have one class that x|y and any other class would replace both?

Grand Lodge

Im changing to Un Rogue 10/Arcanist School Savant Enchnatment 10 with Arcane Trickster 10/ Enchanting Courtesan 10 Elf, Follower of Calistra

With the inclusion of the “In the Company of…” races, I’d probably try to play a Taninim (dragon) or Jotun (giant) of some flavor. And since its gestalt, I can go racial class on one side, PC class on the other!

Hmmm, it might be interesting to do a Rahlmaat build again. "Know EVERYTHING but without going mad like that wannabe Nethys" is a pretty ambitious ambition. :D

I'll work on getting a proper recruitment post up asap, as people seem interested. A few more important notes in the meantime:

1) The original game was intended to be fully open to as many players who wanted to join as possible. I'm unsure if I'll keep that same premise or not, but I might.

2) I should have made this more clear before now, but this has been a bit of a crazy week. I got called into work both yesterday and Thurs, and just didn't remember to post it till now:

The players are the driving force behind this game, not the GM. The original game had 862 posts cuz we players were engaged. We had put the game on pause cuz we wanted to wait for the new mythic material from Legendary Games, but never picked it back up(for whatever reason).

Keep that in mind as you work on your characters. Give them big, arching goals. This isn't a game about just saving the day or defeating the BBEG. It's also about running an organization/government, invading and taking over a country, bringing the fight to Hell/The Abyss, or any other similar *Epic* goals one can thing of!

Grand Lodge

Epib cale eh...hmmm That may change as the Subtle vixen is not the style for such a game

What is Alabama the god of, and is it SFW? lol

Country music, I think. Sacred color is Crimson, favored animal the Elephant. Favored weapon is the shotgun, which is often ceremonially carried by the fathers of brides in the church’s wedding ceremonies.
