Hello Everyone,
I have a simple yet difficult question, does Multiple Attack Penalty (MAP) applies on Auto-fire and Area Fire actions DC? I found arguments about both possibilities and I wanted to ask after the release of the core manual if there is now a consensus about this question. This question affects mainly to Automatic Weapons since most Area Fire weapons have the unwieldy trait.
TLDR; All Auto-Fire and Area Fire actions have the attack trait, so for sure they increase the MAP but most rules around MAP are located on the 'attack roll' section and there is an implication that MAP applies to rolls, not DCs, but I don't know if that is intended or just an oversight on being explicit about the application of the rule.
Thanks for your time and your Knowledge!
PD: I know this was asked in the past but was in playtest and I found definitive answers, I want to see if we can obtain a clear answer for all the Soldiers in the world.

It is still limited to checks:
The second time you use an attack action during your turn, you take a –5 penalty to your check. The third time you attack, and on any subsequent attacks, you take a –10 penalty to your check. Every check that has the attack trait counts toward your multiple attack penalty, including Strikes, spell attack rolls, certain skill actions like Shove, and many others.
And you aren't rolling any check.

The rules are actually pretty clear - as long as players don't confuse an 'Attack action' for a 'Hostile Action'.
Attack actions are actions that have the Attack trait. And yes, MAP only applies to your rolls, not to your DC calculations.
So when you use Auto-Fire or Area Fire, you don't make a roll and MAP doesn't apply to your DC. But the action does have the Attack trait, so it will increase your MAP stage. It increases it by 1 step since it is one activity.
