Aquadynamic trait and Underwater environment

Rules Discussion

Hello, I have a question about armor without aquadynamic trait.

Quote:
You don’t apply the armor’s check penalty to Acrobatics or Athletics checks in water or similar liquids.

If a creature wearing an armor without aquadynamic trait is in an underwater environment, does the creature take the penalty to Acrobatics or Athletics checks ?

Thanks for your future answer.

Only if the creature doesn't meet the armor's strength rating. If they do, they ignore the penalty entirely regardless of environmental factors.

No, the Aquatic Combat rules doesn't mention any Athletics/Acrobatics penalties.

What's happen is that if your armor gives such penalties it wont give these penalties when are underwater if it have this trait.

It doesn't need to be mentioned:

By default, if you don't meet the strength requirements of an armor, you take the penalty to all (except Attack) str/dex checks, including the ones made for underwater stuff.

What the trait does is remove that penalty specifically for underwater.

The exact same way that a trait like Flexible would remove it from athletics/acrobatic but limited to underwater checks only.
