Magus 2e Remaster

Advice

Hello all. Just checking if anyone know any rumour about when and if they'll release an updated Magus class for the 2e Remaster. I have both Core books, just wondering. Meanwhile, can I use the same Magus from the older books or would you say it's better to change something? Thanks in advance.

I don't think we have confirmation or timeline on a Remastered Secrets of Magic. I hear that there is a confirmed plan for Remastered Guns and Gears though, so there is some pretty serious precedent that Secrets of Magic will eventually get updated as well.

Until that happens, the only changes needed are in the Remaster Errata for Secrets of Magic available on the FAQ.

TL;DR: The major change is to the damage type of Arcane Cascade since it can't be based on the school of the spell cast. The minor change is to the wording of the stance of Arcane Cascade so that it doesn't by RAW turn off as soon as you turn it on.

Edit: It is also preferred if the GM allows legacy versions of some Remastered spells that were changed to use saving throws instead of spell attack rolls. Magus still wants those older spell attack versions.

As far as I know, any further remaster versions of classes are mostly going to just be errata. Don't expect any reworks or dramatic changes.

Runs and Gear was ready for a reprint anyways, so they are remastering it and releasing it. But G&G is relatively easy to remaster than SoM.

G&G they just need to change some terminology. SoM needs a full rewrite. An entire chapter about spell schools has to be 100% replaced since the old magic schools are full OGL content.

I think it more likely that the Magus shows up in a different book than SoM is rereleased.

The others have already stated that a Remaster Magus is yet to come, but for now it's absolutely fine to use the Magus as-is. If you are interested in the Conflux Focus and Conflux Wellspring feats though I would talk to your GM about those; as those feats were written with the old rules for refocusing in mind and do not follow the current trend for refocusing feats.

Yes. That is a good thing to bring up.

And when you have that talk with the GM, be sure to bring the Remaster Core Preview document. That has a section on Refocus and explains what to do about those feats.
