Laughing Fit (previously: Hideous Laughter) could be an interesting one.
Unless the enemy critically succeeds, this prevent the enemy from using actions as long as you keep sustaining it. That could be useful against an AoO-happy enemy that's harassing your spellcasters.
In general I'd be looking for Will save oriented spells, because enemies that you get close to in melee will often have good Fortitude or Reflex.

Because Save based spells use a static DC, which soon becomes obsolete (even when it starts, it's already 1 less than your spellcasters and from then on it only gets worse) I'd look on some Spell Attack options instead (since if you hit with the attack, you autohit with those)
A 3rd level hydraulic push as an example would be 7d6+shove, a Telekinetic maneuver would allow you to combine your strike with your choice of Trip, Shove, Disarm or Reposition, a Holy Light would be an extra 10d6 vs an Unholy target, and etc

And if there are not enough spell slots cantrips and focus spells can always be used. It costs only a minute and is better than nothing.
If your GM lets you undercast them so they can go in the Spell Storing item (which I would BTW). At the time one can afford the Rune, one's focus/cantrips are too high to be placed in the Rune.

The Total Package wrote:Just curious would I be able to cast a 3rd level spell from the arcane list into the spell via Trick Magic Item?As far as I can tell, you don't even need Trick Magic Item. There is no requirement to be a spellcaster to use the rune and the spell stored in it.
I should correct and clarify this. I didn't actually answer the question asked.
It is an open and unanswerable question if you can use Trick Magic Item to use a magical item in a way that takes more than one round. So the 1 minute time cost of storing a spell into the Spell Reservoir rune, that would fall into this category. You will have to talk to your GM to see if they will allow Trick Magic Item to activate an arcane scroll and store the spell cast into the rune.

Oh. I completely forgot about it. Yes, one more reason to allow undercasting.

I gotta agree with shroudb and say that Holy Light/Chilling Darkness are hard to beat for a thematic Spell to put on the Weapon if you don't have side-loaded access to Hydraulic Push or something silly like an Amped Psi Cantrip via dipping into Psychic) via some expanded Spell Access shenanigans. Bonus if you're fighting a Holy or Unholy creature as you'll REALLY rack up the numbers if you do so.
Generally speaking, you never want to put a Spell in such a Weapon that provides a Saving Throw of any sort because you're cutting the effectiveness of it by around 50%, or even more than that if you happen to be fighting anything higher level than yourself. You CAN do it if you want to do more tricky stuff like apply conditions/debuffs and so forth but you'll need to get used to being disappointed by getting less than stellar results out of what you're hoping to be a nice little burst.
