You mean these?

Pathfinder Player Core Pocket Edition

Pathfinder GM Core Pocket Edition

They've also announced future pocket editions will come out 3 months after the full hardbacks for main rulebooks going forward.

Yes thank you very much Kyrand.

I prefer these because (hopefully) it includes all the latest errata.

Unfortunately, they have already said it will not. Probably because they would have had to send the file to the printers before the errata even came out.

That is very disappointing to hear. I specifically buy the pocket to get the errata. Oh well hopefully they get around to it.

Edit why wouldn’t Paizo be able given that the pocket versions are to be released in Feb or is it March 2024. They have two- three months of time before they get released.

Because more goes into a new printing than just slapping errata into the book? The book will have to be entirely reformatted to make sure that everything still lines up the way it should, and even a 2-3 month lead time isn't enough to do that AND get it to the printers in time.

On the difference between trade and pocket versions.

To the reader (and to some extent the author), format differences don't matter much. It's the same text, communicating the same work (whatever that is).

To the publisher, it's an entirely new work (because its layout is subtly but radically different).

Yeah, wanting the errata data is great. Getting the errata data in the FAQ page is fantastic.

But that doesn't mean that the errata data is going to fit into the existing page layouts. Because when errata is added, it can change the lengths of the sentences. And when the sentence lengths get changed and they take up more space then sometimes you will end up running into the end of the physical page. And, of course, then the rest of

They were able to get the Remaster versions out fairly quickly why not the errata.

It does not have to be in the first print run of the pocket editions. I do hope by the second or third print they have time to include it.

Because they delayed the rest of their product line by months and pulled every available person onto the Remaster project. Starfinder players were not very happy about that.

Yes? That's how second and concurrent printings have always worked? That's when they'll put in the effort to reformat since they will need to send a new file to the printer anyway.
