Wisp Chain

Rules Discussion

So, the group that I GM for was looking at some of the magic items in Rage of Elements (do not even get me started on the melancholy earring), and we came across the Wisp Chain armor.

As seen here it's basically a magic chain shirt that can deafen anyone who stands next to it, and do an AOE burst of damage every round.

Here's the question - is there a way to turn the noise off? Because think about it.

"Here, have the world's noisiest chain shirt. It sounds like a massive storm all the time. Whether you're wearing it or not. Good luck trying to sleep near it, and oh, I'm sure wearing into any town won't be a problem at all."

You should avoid sleeping in your armor. It causes fatigue.

It also has the Invested trait, so it will not function while not worn.

Ehhh. That might only apply to the activated ability. You might still invest in a sound muffling box to keep your armor in while you sleep.

I did say sleep near it, not sleep in it.

But this is literally a Gunslinger's dream armor.

Not to equip. Just to point at, as he's no longer the loudest person in combat.

You can equip and not invest it if you want.

Is it missing
Frequency one per day
?
Like many similar items have

Probably.

Losing your armor bonus would be a noticeable cost if it lasted until the start of your next turn. But with it coming back at the end of your current turn, I don't see that as actually being a drawback at all. In most cases the round will be "Stride (to get into position to not hit allies), Activate". And at that point, the AC bonus will return immediately because your turn is now over.
