Accessing the Fangwire

Hello,
I was looking to see if there was a boon available to access the fangwire in Society as a non-kobold. Playing a level 5 dual wield goblin ranger. Adding a good grapple weapon would be nice and fangwire is the best one available.

Thanks.

Alas, kobolds are uncommon, and there is no boon (yet) to allow you to be adopted by them. Unless there is one on a chronicle sheet somewhere, I think the fangwire may be out of reach for your goblin.

You can gain access by picking up adopted ancestry: Humans at lvl 3 general feat and then using level 5 ancestry feat to pick up unconventional weaponry, which allows you to choose an ancestry specific uncommon weapon and gain access to it.
You can replace the level 5 ancestry feat with using a level 7 general feat Ancestral Paragon to pick up that unconventional weaponry instead, if you prefer.

Alas, that does not work. Look at the Adopted Ancestry feat. It covers common ancestries only.

You can also get adopted by Leshies, Iruxi and Hobgoblins with the General Boon called Ancestral Adoption I.

But there has not been an Ancestral Adoption II boon, so there are no kobold options currently available via Adopted Ancestry yet.

TL/DR: You can currently have kobold adopted by goblins, but not a goblin adopted by kobolds.

The work around was being Adopted by Humans for the Unconventional Weaponry feat. :)

It’s a very long work around.

Oh right, I forgot all about humans!
