The shield throw trait explains that:
Shield Throw
A shield with this trait is designed to be thrown as a ranged attack. When thrown, the shield is a martial thrown ranged weapon. Its damage dice and type are the same as its shield bash attack, but if the shield includes an attached weapon or integrated weapon, you can choose to attack with it instead when you throw the shield. You add your Strength modifier to damage, as typical of a thrown weapon. The trait also includes the range increment.

Right, but I thought that only applies to throwable shields that already have something attached by default, like the Razor Disc, as opposed to shield spikes or a shield boss, which are separate components that are attached to an existing shield. Especially because the Throwing Shield says "A shield with the throwing shield attachment can't have any attached weapons, such as shield spikes or a shield boss."

In the initial question, you asked about the Meteor Shield. The Meteor Shield has the Shield Throw trait just like the Razor Shield.
The Throwing Shield adjustment is a different thing that doesn't imply anything about the Meteor Shield.

I wasn't sure if the meteor shield superceded the throwing shield in terms of rules or not.

I feel like maybe we aren't quite communicating, so hopefully this isn't just restating something you already understand, but:
It isn't a matter of superseding. They are separate items with separate rules that have no interaction with each other.

Why would anyone TAKE the Throwing Shield adjustment then, now that the Meteor Shield exists and can have shield spikes on it, or the Razor Disc on its own if slashing damage is what you're after? Is that item just redundant now?
