No, you just become trained in them. The Elven Weapon Expertise feat does allow you to advance them in step with your other rogue weapon proficiencies.
Additionally, I'll note that one of the things that has been confirmed for the remastered rules that are coming up is full martial weapon proficiency for rogues.

If a Rogue takes Elven Weapon Familiarity I understand that elven martial weapons become simple weapons but what about things like the Longbow, Composite Longbow and Longsword, would they be treated as simple weapons as well?
Just trying to figure out proficiency level as a character advances.
In the Remaster of PF2, Rogues are getting Martial Weapon Proficiency so it's not going to matter. Until then though, no it doesn't alter those weapon proficiencies.
Second, just to be sure, it doesn't actually make the weapons simple, it just allows you to use the simple weapon proficiency for them: for instance, if your character has a feat that requires simple weapon, such as Deadly Simplicity, it wouldn't work with a martial weapon that your Elven Weapon Familiarity allows you to use your simple weapon proficiency with.

In the podcast I saw paizo said you can start using martial proficiency for rogues and simple proficiency for wizards. You don't have to wait for the remaster books
You don't need a developer's permission to make rules changes in your home games.
If you're talking PFS though, things developers say in interviews don't apply, you must hear it from Organized Play in an official blog post or FAQ.
