Utility Spells in Combat

Advice

What are some creative examples of traditionally non-combat spells being used effectively in combat in PF2e?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

What are you considering a non-combat spell? If there is a combat use for a spell, wouldn't it be a combat spell? Even if it isn't often used as such.

I could see using Spider Climb to climb out of range of the melee enemies and be able to cast ranged spells from relative safety.

But I also consider Spider Climb to be a combat spell because of that.

Anything that wouldn't normally be considered something used for combat. If you need something more specific, then a spell that doesn't normally require a saving throw or attack roll I suppose.

I've had players use control water to drown or drive off grikkitogs in a cavern--an encounter that TPKs a lot of other groups I hear.

They could either stay in the earth hiding, or they could emerge into water. Either way they couldn't breath. Eventually they couldn't hold their breath any longer and so died or fled.

I was really proud of my players for that one.

Illusory object and all it's creative usages in a encounter since lvl 1.
