Looking for advice on ways to make this unchained eidolon idea work

Advice

So, I'm currently building an unchained summoner for an upcoming campaign, starting at level 3.

The idea I had for the eidolon, which I realize isn't remotely optimal, was to give them the psychopomp subtype, and have them dual-wield sickles.

However, I've run into a bit of a snag. That pesky 15 dex requirement on two-weapon fighting.

I was wondering if there was any possible way to get around that with a feat or something without having to sink half a dozen levels or more into the class before I can stop attacking at a -4/-8.

as you can somewhat change the shape of the eidolon to look like whatever you desire. (to a limit, the unchained is still bound by type somewhat) how about shaping it's claw attack to resemble the blades of a sickle?

that way the mere claws evolution would let him strike twice and deal about the same damage (At first) as a sickle without the whole two weapon fighting penalties.

At third level you should have 3 evolution points, Increased DEX cost 2 which puts your DEX for a biped at 15 which is what you need. You also have 2 feats available. You need to spend on one simple weapon proficiency and the other on two weapon fighting. If you are not using a biped form, you can use 2 or your evolution points to pick up limbs (hands). This is not hard but does use up most of your starting options. If you are using your options for other things, you need to decide what is more important.

That was something I was considering, yeah... Might honestly end up being what I have to do, in the end. The only other option I've found so far is to jump through some hoops to give him another set of arms (2 evo points), then bump up his dex by one (2 MORE evo points), before taking this feat

...and frankly, that's more than just a little bit silly.

Biped has 12 base dex, not 13, sadly. You might be thinking of their 13 base con? Either way, +2 dex only gets me to 14, which isn't enough for two-weapon fighting.

Alternatively consider using your first level feat for extra evolution, then take weapon training evolution. At 3rd level you'd have enough points to take both weapon training and ability increase and a feat available to take 2 weapon fighting.

The stats also go up based on your level. They get a +1 to STR and DEX at 2nd level which puts the base DEX to 13.

Oh! So they do! I completely missed that. Thank you for pointing that out.

You could also consider going small:

Quote:
Alternatively, any one of these base forms can be used to make a Small eidolon. If the eidolon is Small, it gains a +2 bonus to Dexterity. It takes a –4 penalty to Strength and a –2 penalty to Constitution. It also has a +1 size bonus to AC and on attack rolls, a –1 penalty on combat maneuver checks and to CMD, a +2 bonus on Fly checks, and a +4 bonus on Stealth checks. Reduce the damage of all of its attacks by one step (for example, 1d6 becomes 1d4, and 1d4 becomes 1d3). If this choice is made, the eidolon can be made Medium whenever the summoner can change the eidolon’s evolution pool (which causes it to lose these modifiers for being Small). Likewise, a Medium eidolon can be made Small whenever the summoner can change the eidolon’s evolution pool.

Unfortunately, I'm still not sure if there is a way to be "online" any earlier than level 3.

it's best if the unc summoner is small as you want to avoid appearing as a target. A strong drive for this is that a summoner must split his magic item body slots with his eidolon (may just be Org Play).
Ratfolk can swarm but I don't think the eidolon will ever qualify. A teamwork feat may help. Sadly as a spellcaster you should stay out of personal combat.
Halflings have their luck/jinx.
Wizards classicly want aasimar(ability scores), samsaran(extra spells), human(extra feat), other.

I'd read a class guide at ZG
most of the advice centers around the eidolon as an attack companion (claws, slam, imp damage, reach, pounce, abil incr.)...
Make sure to download a summoning guide as there are a l-i-s-t of critters and tracking what you want isn't trivial...
Feat: SplFcs(C) & Aug Summoning.
Point-blank Shot & Precise Shot for a couple of hvy crossbows gives you some good attacks early. You can retrain them later. OTHERWISE Cestus and boarding pike/longspear are a good mix.
