Would you as a GM allow this?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Say a player of yours wants to make a cleric. He wants to choose the Divine Paragon archetype, which grants boons from Deific Obedience at levels 5, 11 and 14. Then he wants to take the Evangelist PrC at level 6, which grants boons at 8, 11 and 14. What he asks you is, since he already has the first boon, when he gets to level 8 can he take the second boon at that level and the third at 11?

What would you rule?

"I guess you have to wait six levels for your second boon."

No, but since Aligned class advances all their class features, they would end up getting the 2nd boon at 11th and the third at 14th anyways. By default, class features do not stack unless it specifies otherwise. Evangelist does not state it stacks so it does not. Both classes are granting early access to the boons and should not get it even earlier.

There are multiple types of Boons (evangelist, exalted, or sentinel), could they take 2 of them instead of just 1? I haven't played with DO and boons before, so I am not sure how they work.

You need something like the Diverse Obedience feat to gain access to different boon types.

Note, however, that this feat allows you to get Boons earlier, but only if they’re gained through a class—not a prestige class.

If the player hasn’t gone down this path already, I’d say “no”. If they were already in the middle of this path, I’d probably let them have two sets of boons. One for evangelist and a second like sentinel.

He gets his first boon again--which does nothing because he already has it.

Classes are like career paths, Archetypes various styles of that career, and Prestige classes are a specialization of that class... you can't do both so choose one.

If you need help with your build, did your PC attend a college? What's his background? Character sheet and concept?...
