Is there a Genie-centric project on the horizon?

Pathfinder Second Edition General Discussion

I’ve always had a soft spot for Legacy of Fire and Howl of the Carrion King remains my favorite AP volume to this day. I know we are raging with all the elements in the upcoming months and just had an Impossible Lands release…so all this is making me wonder if we’re going to see a post-2e treatment of Scheherazadean themes at some point? Are we waiting for the team to set their sights on The Golden Road, first?

Is there any community/developer interest in bringing a Legacy of Fire type story (module or mini AP?) into 2e or are we done with genies and corsairs for a goodly while?

Do you already know about Rage of Elements?

Yep, and I’ll be high-fiving you in line as we wait for our copies!

I guess the reason why I phrased my question the way I did is because I’ve seen a lot of teasers supporting Airbender and Planescapey Inner Planar stories and there’s even the wonderful eastern elements of wood & metal warming us up for more Tien content…but nothing in the vein of Arabian nights that I’ve (for wholly subjective reasons) expected?

I sort of assumed there would be some post-Legacy of Fire related genie content…maybe you could point me to an article?

None of this is intended as a complaint…more of an “I’m not sure how to manage my expectations of this particular release given how many different genres it can dip into” sort of thing.

Does that make sense?

Ive seen a lot of people predict that the upcoming Rage of Elements is setting us up for a Tian Xia based adventure, which would be great, of course. My heart belongs to Golden Road, but I don't think that's on the horizon as soon. We haven't had an AP yet in 2e to really take us beyond the Inner Sea. Gatewalkers is brushing the fringes in the North, and Stolen Fate has the potential to go literally anywhere.

Fists of the Ruby Phoenix doesn't count? :p

But yes, very excited for the earlier notes that Stolen Fate is apparently going to multiple continents.

If we do, it will likely be next year's last AP. If it's 1-10, it will probably be set in Qadira or Jalmeray (neither of which have hosted an AP yet). If it's 11-20, which I hope it is, we will probably go planar.

I don't expect Jalmeray, given that by the time this product's coming out, the Impossible Lands book will be close to a year old - they usually want tighter synergy than that. Osirion and Qadira are both major hubs of elemental magic historically (with mortal armies even contributing to wars on the Elemental Planes!), so it does seem like the Golden Road is a natural fit for the coming year.

For whatever reason, I'm not convinced it's what they're doing... but a North African romp full of planar magic where I can play a Maftet? I'd be more than happy with that.

EDIT: James Jacobs has mentioned them experimenting with the AP format soon, which makes me wonder if something like a levels 5-15 journey that starts in the Golden Road but eventually goes to the planes might fit the bill. That feels a little standard for the product that includes volume #200, though.

This is my group’s sweet-spot and if every 3- or 6-volume AP went levels 5-15 until the end of days, I would be a happy GM/Player.

Oh yeah, level 5-15 or even level 3-13 would be super fun! PC characters coming in with a couple levels under their belt allow for a storyline of "You were the big fish in a small pond, but now you're thrown into the ocean." It's a different feeling than "You're at the bottom of the food chain and you're brushing up again this huge mystery."

really want a free all genie ap end with a few thousand wish cause devastation similar to eye of abendego or mana waste everywhere

that would be a nice world shaking event lead to 3e or something
