Star Trek - Need More Officers!

Recruitment

Howdy mates!

I'm hosting a Star Trek game here in the forums. It's RP-heavy; we don't actually use any particular system, relying mostly in the players creativity. We haven't rolled dice so far! The game is going well, good rhythm and active players, but we could use a couple more officers in our bridge/ship.

Do you want to come on this adventure with us? Are you active enough, and willing enough to go on a mostly RP quest? Please apply here!

Here's a link to my original recruitment with all the details (you can see our discussion and gameplay there too). We are not too far yet, so it's still a great chance to get in the game practically at its infancy.

To boldly go...

Any chance you could post a current roster/manifest so applicants can see what spots are filled and which are available?

Darven Cordova, twelfth youngest human to gain rank of ensign. The paperwork was delayed long enough not to fall within the top ten. Favors owed were repaid in the timing of the date stamp. Seven days meant 3 spots.

He joined the Inopia within the Archeological vertical in an Acting Lieutenant position. Having served under Logistics, Medical, Security, and then HR, Darven has been actively looking for promotion wherever. He tested very well, which meant he gained many appropriate and thus meaningless certificates that documented his (easily forgotten, virtual) skills. He tested very well.

The Bureaucrat Captain Jay Pasteur, Darven knowing his weakness of Whiskey, presented him with the application waiver on an 8:15 am Friday morning meeting after a Thirsty Thursday. (Date stamp 8:21 am) It was so easy to secure the Promotion. Darven was skilled a bureaucrat - Jay, if he knew he was a mentor figure, should be so proud. After time served, the Acting part of the rank quietly goes away... By Darven's calculation, he'll be thirteen youngest human to the rank of Lieutenant.

Going through his listed hours of service record, one would notice that other IDs logged in for shifts so he would not be penalized. Not digging further, as some interested parties explain in hushed whispers, "He runs a poker table. Some debts are paid through Time. Some debts are not yet discharged."

Not the Host, but I can tell you we have :

Antas Di Santos , Lt. Commander and Chief Engineer
Finn O’Sullivan , Chief Medical Officer
Lieutenant Htun Khaing Mg Zeyar , Communications Officer
Joseph T. McCoy , Chief of Security and Tactical

As the PCs

@Flanderdash: Ridge helped us with the current roster! There are still many openings, we just need to get creative. Let me know if you have any other questions!

@Brett/Darven: It seems you may be in the lines for building a good candidate for a science officer on the bridge. Please put together a profile and look for the details I asked on the original recruitment, and let me know!

Hmm, anything looking for in particular? It's been a bit since I played anything Trek.

We're fairly covered, although there are hypothetically some openings. Let's see...

- We have a captain, which is an NPC (and I need to keep him as such for the time being, as it helps me conduct the storyline);

- Our chief engineer is serving as first officer as well, so we could have someone fill the engineering role if we get enough applications;

- We have a helmsman, but it's a NPC. He is kind of relevant on the plot (players started to understand why), but I can maneuver him around a bit if needed;

- We have a comms officer, and he's doubling as operations as well. We could also leave him with simply comms and have someone else deal with operations;

- We have a tactical/security officer. We could break into two positions, but I'd rather not as it would be a bit weird in a non-military vessel;

- We have a doctor, but he has been a bit OOF. If he doesn't reply soon and pick up the pace, I'll have to replace him as well;

- There is a counselor, but it's an NPC, and a position that I'd prefer keeping as an NPC;

- We don't actually have a science officer, as some of our other officers were covering for it. Darven seems to be interested in the opening;

These are the bridge officers. Of course, you all are also open to come out with other officers that are not the chief of particular areas, but serve as second in command or other important positions. As long as you make your character important enough in the ship to be involved in the discussions with the other senior officers, we're game!

In that case I might go for either go for that engineering role or the operations role.

@Lapyd - I will get the Darven profile created with details from the original recruitment over the weekend. I have an event Thursday evening and a little keyed up from today's work.

I assume with the shake up of the Maiden Voyage that Darven was still feeling his way through the politics and responsibilities of his new position. Probably a lot of bureaucratic issues and reports. Reports that have to be read on the area. The science data that has to analyzed. Weather chart trends for the 3 planets in the system. All Science related agenda stuff.

Also, the Acting Lieutenant probably has to be updated in the Ship's Crew Manifest. So not a lot of socializing has been done with an Ensign at this stage.

((Don't have the full write up yet if you were still looking. Working on the backstory))

Name: David Greer
Species: Human (Scotch Irish)
Age: 27 (Born 2342)
PoB: Federation Starbase 4
Rank: Lieutenant
Position: Operations Officer
----
Concept:
Lt. David Greer is the newly assigned dedicated Operations officer of the Inopia. While having served fantastically as subordinate, the shift to being head of a department has left him strained in his relationship to his wife and family. Using his ambition for his fledgling career in Star Fleet, he agreed to the mission’s late assignment for the potential of being commissioned to the rank of Lt. Commander during the tour and to resolve such issues.
----
Appearance and Behavior:
Standing roughly at 5’7”, Greer is a man of out sized physicality, with an above average build from a love of physical fitness and health centered diets. His dark brown hair is typically kept well trimmed and short, his only facial hair being a small mustache. His eyes, dark brown, are just above a small facial scar to his cheek, the result of a fall while on an an excavation in his youth.

Greer tends to be highly energetic in his career and his hobbies, enjoying the finer aspects of organizing crewman in orderly fashion and the days to day operations of star fleet life. When dealing with others, he tends to be relatively mild mannered and considerate but has a distaste particularly for tardiness. Family life however has been shaky as of recent, with his wife Priri unhappy being separated due to their last assignments. His favorite sport, coincidentally the game of golf, is often the signature sign of issues at home, being as he is terrible at it.
----
Abilities:
Trumpet**- Having been taught to play the instrument since he was nine, Greer has continued to play into his adulthood, having been a member of star fleet academies orchestra and several small brass and jazz bands. While never a first chair, his passion for playing exudes a confidence

History***- As described as a source of useless factoids and trivia answers by his wife, Lt. Greer wrote his major doctorate’s thesis on archaeological discoveries and history of early Luna colonization efforts. His father Dr. Ezekiel Greer had specialized himself in the history of Earth’s native satellite and early Federation history, greatly influencing his interests in the field, especially with visits to dig sites organized by his father. Greer uses this education and passion in his role as Operations chief to organize and archive records and information while also being able to organize and delegate tasks.

Taekwondo*- Lt. Greer took up the martial art teenage years, continuing it into his time with the Federation. While trained in the martial art, it is akin more to a hobby than an actual martial field, one crowded by other physical endeavors.

Languages (Read/ Write/ Speak)**- University Level: English; Highschool Level: Vulcan (speaking with a human accent and at times pauses to think over a sentence); Elementary Level; Catian (only able to speak simple sentences from osmosis from his wife).

Piloting*-At his time in the academy, Greer had found a fondness for piloting smaller crafts and attack fighters. During a training mission however, a malfunction caused by ill maintenance resulted in a crash that would kill his best friend, a vulcan named Haadok.
----
Goals:
Promotion- Greer aims to try to earn a promotion by his assignment on the Inopia.

Family- Now sharing the same assignment as his wife, he hopes that he can use this opportunity to spend more time with her and their young daughter Kria.
---
Secrets:
1. Greer has an older brother from his father’s previous marriage, Larz Sullivan, a con man and smuggler of illicit goods. Greer was never told of this and does not know of his existence, his father having passed away by the time Greer was twenty-one years old.

2. The accident involving his friend was partially his fault, having improperly checked the systems before launch on his own fighter. Haadok however had accidentally piloted Greer’s. The weight of such information has weighed heavily on his mind, only worsened when he was cleared of wrong doing. Deep down however, Greer guilt for an accident beyond his control is one of the issues continuing his distress.
----
Relationships:
Junior Lt. Priri Greer(Catian)- Wife of Lt. Greer, she took onto the same assignment under medical as a xenobiologist. Standing relatively at the height of normal Catian female, with orange and brown furr and hair, tied back in a knot. Their daughter Kria appears as well as a normal Catian child, but with hair color reminiscent of her father’s. The two met shortly after the academy during a medical check up, becoming partners in marriage soon after.

Ensign Chaykv Thev (Andorian)- Lt. Greer met the Andorian during his first assignment of the small Federation Freighter Brunswick, becoming at first heated rivals before turning to more friendlier terms. Both shared a love of physical sport and games.

Prof. Sadhil Kapadia- University of Orion professor of history and friend to Greer’s family. Specializing in pre- space flight civilizations, Kapadia often accompanied David’s father on expeditions and archaeological digs. Soft spoken and polite, he is an excellent cook.

My apologies, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I will be pause the game for some good weeks. Sorry again, and hope you all have fun on your other endeavors!

You got this. Best of luck with your unforeseen circumstances.

Take care, hope everything is alright.
