This is one of several similar scenarios I've designed to explore the capabilities — as you my readers define them — of the kineticist. The basic premise is this: you, a fledgling kineticist, have been asked by Tandy Tanderveil to join three other people in investigating what's been happening to her stores of fish. The three others may be any three of the four pre-generated characters from the beginner box, and you may have a dedicated gate, a dual gate, or a universal gate. In each scenario, you will be asked to make some decisions regarding what abilities you will bring to the party. All party members are first level. The purpose of including the other party members is to see how party composition affects your choices (if it does).
Scenario II:
You have a dedicated gate. Your companions are Ezren, a human Evoker, Kyra, a human Warpriest of Sarenrae, and Valeros, a human Fighter.
Question 1: Which element will you choose for your dedicated gate?
Question 2: Which three first level impulse feats will you choose?
Question 3: You get one other first level feat. Which one? (Remember this need not be an impulse feat). An impulse feat must be associated with your chosen element.
Question 4: Any comments on this scenario?

Same from scenario 1. I don't change my choices due party members. This response will be the same for all other scenarios that just changes the party members.
Yeah, pretty much this. Plus it's impossible to tell what capabilities the other have: we don't know skills, skill feats, spells, ect. How would we know what would be compatible if we don't know what spells the casters have and what weapon the fighter has? The party could be all range, all melee or something in between.

That's fair enough. So basically we're down to scenarios 1, 5, and 9.
Well, they're pre-gens. If you have the Beginner Box pregens, you have all that info. I don't remember if the pregens are free download or not.
Short summary: Valeros, sword and shield, longsword, short bow, Sudden Charge
Ezren: Evoker, magic missile, shocking grasp, detect magic, light, mage hand, message, ray of frost, force bolt, spell substitution, arcane bond.
Kyra: burning hands, healx3, magic weapon, detect magic, disrupt undead, light, message, stabilize, scimitar, shield
Merisiel: subtle theft, trap spotter.
