Does "Moraine" sound like a good name for a dwarf clan?

While it is a reference to terrain which seems fitting for dwarves, I don't know the geography of where dwarves come from to know if it makes sense. It's specifically a kind of glacial terrain.

Personally I think it doesn't sound very dwarfy.

Modifying a word by throwing in a d, k, t, or g can help it sound more dwarvish. You also might try a simpler phonetic structure than the "aine." Mordane, perhaps?

I would agree that Mordane sounds more dwarfy than Moiraine. That suffix sounds very undwarven to me.

Considering that dwarves originated deep below ground, ancient Dwarvish presumably wouldn't have a word for surface terrain shaped by glaciers. So maybe "moraine" could be a Taldane loan word. That would explain its un-dwarvish sound.

Or perhaps, after the search for sky, a dwarf clan residing in such terrain was referred to as "the moraine dwarves" by local humans and the dwarves adopted it thinking it was a translation of their dwarvish name.

Ultimately, I would probably do a lore dive and try to find an existing dwarf clan name that I wanted my character to be a part of.
