Gday folks,
I am making this thread to express my dissatisfaction with the locking of the previous thread which was made for the express purpose of commentary on the state of forum moderation.
amusingly circular!
I have a concern that a trend of early and fast locking may become a trend? And as such be weaponised by trolls to stifle discussion?(a clear win for some of previous trolls) If we instead say, suspend rule breakers instead of halting conversations. We might catch more bigots that way.. which is honestly a win my book

I'm sure moderation will show discretion on when to actually close a thread. Rule breakers will show their colors whether or not a particular thread is closed. Heather specifically stated that there were other threads that were similar, so not sure why you'd open another one?
At the point the thread was closed the topic had moved to whether or not bolding text was an offensive thing to do. Its usefulness had run its course.
I'd also refer you to the "Better Thread Titles" thread.
Edit: several typos

Thank you, but no thank you. I feel this is a legitimate concern about something that could spiral into a Dangerous policy fast. After all, moderation is to keep healthy conversations safe, not silence victims with legitimate concerns.

Kobold Cleaver requested that the thread be locked because she thought it had run its course and there were other similar threads out there. I don't see anything sinister with the mods listening to a request from the Original Poster.
Hmm

Cool, I always love being presented with a slippery slope and being associated with efforts to try to silence victims.
Something happening once does not make a trend, and to be clear I think the most recent changes have done a great job of allowing victims and marginalized individuals a place to speak their truth.
KC asked for it specifically so it wasn't just moderation gone wild. (I see KC already spoke to this so disregard this.) Just take a breather, friend.

Yes, sorry, I specifically asked for the thread to be locked because another thread had popped up to basically drive at the same issues but with more clarity, and because my thread was drifting off-topic. :(
This right here. If the original poster asks a thread to be closed, I am all for it.
If someone wants to start a new one? I am all for that too. But lets try to keep the vitriol out because it will just get removed and more people will have hurt hearts about thinking they were wrongly moderated.
Constructive conversations are a boon to the community. The way this thread started, very argumentative and not really including all the information doesn't look good for the outlook of the rest of it.

I'll also just stress that my thread had two points. Commenting on moderation, yes, but also the importance of showing empathy towards the CSRs and recognizing that they don't actually have a ton of options here and are probably just doing their best. Assuming the worst without checking for context really isn't fair to them as individuals trying to do two jobs at once.

I am sorry. Whilst I felt I had a concern, said concern was one out of ignorance. I jumped as to not lose my train of thought. I'm going to take the next few days to be more passive in my approach and just read and learn from the forums and try to be better when I return to posting. I should have more faith in the moderation of this forums.. but paizo is not quite in my good books yet.

That's all fair commentary, and it *is* useful to have an up-to-date thread running on critical concerns both for sustained pressure and visibility, so please don't be too hard on yourself.
Reflexive practice really is a great skill to develop, though; go you!

Smite them for 20d6 damage. That seemed to work out well over in WotR. ;)

I think "electric boogaloo" is pretty clearly distinct from the "boogaloo boys", honestly. It's still a very common sequel joke title.
Just noting that I in my comfortable privilege had a tonal "eh..?" moment, so it may be worth considering for those more in the firing line - but it's totally not up to me, nor do I think for a second the OP intended the reference! It's a "would this be kinder?"
(Context: I'm currently wading through the Sines v. Kessler case so may be more wary than normal)

The moderation squad has asked us to contact them directly through email if we want to discuss moderation policy. I believe the concerns of the original thread have largely been resolved by recent efforts of the moderators.
Good on ya The Inheritor! Glad that you had positive intentions in starting the thread. You also accepted new information and adjusted your opinions accordingly. If only all internet communication was like that!
Finally, I object to the title of this thread because Braekin 2: Electric Boogaloo is a terrible film. It has a cliche plot, and the "romance" between the main characters is bafflingly implausible.
