Should arcane archer be gun compatible?

Now off the bat I know, RAW the awnser is no, arcane archer specifies bows with the option of crossbows, but given firearms where not a thing at the time do you think they should be added to that list?

Even if we ignore the bow requirement the Eldritch Shot is very problematic with reload rules due the action economy.

If you want to do a Eldritch Archer like with guns probably is batter to do with magus.

Besides it's appear we have some kind of magical gunslinger in G&G.

Spell shot cannot actually use magic, only magical abilities, such as elemental ammo, or dispelling rounds

Assuming that Guns are not significantly more powerful than Bows, I don't see why not. The EA balance point is on action economy. You get only one shot a round. Add in the fact that you have to take next turn to reload, it means you are doing Eldritch Shot once every two rounds at best. God forbid you have to move or do something else.

I would allow it, only because your 2 round damage with Eldritch shot, reload, shot, reload, is going to be way behind just a straight Gunslinger already.

Beast Gunner archetype is basically Eldritch Archer but beast guns.
