I'm a pretty dedicated 1E player/GM, and I'm still getting my money's worth from first edition. Still, I like a lot of what I've seen so far when playing with and theorycrafting 2E characters. There's a very good merging of story and system that I'm discovery as I play with HeroLab.

The other day, I conceptualized a sorcerer with a dragon ancestor. And then I thought, "What if the ancestor shows up to pester the sorcerer for not doing things the way the dragon would like?" And ... the second level Summoner Dedication does that perfectly. Suddenly, there's a dragon spirit following around giving you all sorts of unwanted advice.

Excellent concept. I had a similar one for a draconic barbarian. Why would you become a dragon, when you can become 2 dragons? Lol.

Oh I like that

Dragon instinct barbarian with a side focus on intimidation is the character I am most excited to play. I can be a barbarian half dragon who breaths fire, flies and eventually turns into a dragon who can also scare people to death? That's amazing.

Spirit instinct is also super tempting because you can flavour your rage as ghostly possession which is really cool.

I love that most subclasses also give you the freedom to decide where you get your powers from. A dragon instinct barbarian can be someone who worships dragons or someone who bathed in the blood of a dragon or straight up be a half dragon. The animal instinct barbarian can be a kind of shamanistic warrior or they can be a werewolf.

I have a spirit Barbarian with a witch dedication who has a familiar devil baby that whispers strange words into her ear and summons a swarm of angry spirits around her. It has been totally functional and full of weird and wonderful flavor at the same time. Utility cantrips for being the party occultist, and a focus spell that grants fast healing are great. There are a lot of fun quirky ideas that are functional in and out of encounter mode in PF2, even if they are not combat focused optimal

Yo, glad to see so many "why not have a dragon" fans in here. I have a dragon bloodline sorcerer who I converted to a summoner for the playtest, and just converted to summoner in truth, and I'm enjoying it so far. I've flavored the eidolon as a mixture of the sorcerer's personality, the dragon's personality who pumped my sorcerer full of their blood so he would stay alive longer, and other random bits and pieces from the Astral Plane.
