How to build an elven doctor obsessed with imorality?

My gm and I were talking and I came up with the PERFECT character for their next campaign, but I have no idea how to build her.

Core tenants of the character:

* A mad ships doctor who uses a lot of leeches and old timey medicine. The crew is a bit afraid of her.

* Is an elf. (specifically a middle aged or older one)

* elves in this world used to be immortal but were turned mortal by a magical apocalypses thousands of years ago. she wants to figure out a way to get the immortality back. Overly obsessed with it and will do anything to achieve her goals.

* Part of a secret society of scholars with the goal of getting immortality.

* Mechanically I am picturing her being some kind of support. The party members so far are: a mountain stance monk, a giant instinct barbarian, and an undecided.

Any tips for building this character?

Be a druid or ki-monk with high wis to eventually actually get that immortality? Nature as one of the main skills, natural medicine for your leeches idea. Herbalist archetype maybe, medic is always good. Of you play with Free archetype you have a lot of options.

Liberty's Edge

Investigator with the Forensic methodology and the Medic archetype. She will be a healer on par with a Cleric, though with different strengths and no built-in way to hurt undead.

A background providing Assurance in Medicine would be quite useful. The usual Medicine skill feats will strengthen her usefulness as a healer. Note though that whatever applies specifically to Treat Wounds does not apply to Battle Medicine.

Risky Medicine seems to fit the flavor though you might want to retrain it once you automatically succeed at the DC20 Treat Wounds checks.

I was playing such a build in Abomination Vaults with the Eldritch Anatomist background. She was obsessed with Fleshwarping to make herself and her friends free of the usual ancestries' weaknesses. She developped a great interest in the natural immortality of Ulat-Kini.

You might want to take the Ancient Elf heritage and use it for an INT MC dedication. Witch seems especially fitting the flavor of this character. Alchemist can work great here too, as it can have good synergies with the Known weakness Feat.

My build was aimed at maximizing her chances of critical success on Known weakness. If you are interested in it, I will give more detail about this.

Alignment-wise, Neutral or even Evil can work, as long as the character is useful to the party and stays on the right side of Good extremists.

For example, a careful choice of words, a high proficiency in Deception and giving time and money to their worthy cause helped my PC develop a great relationship with a pair of Angradd-loving extremists in the party.

I'd say alchemist, with the final goal of the philosopher stone or whatever grants immortality.

Consider also the whispering way.

It might perfectly fit the character.

I wouldn't focus too much on actually getting the immortality mechanically - while druids and monks have access to feats that halt the aging process, those classes don't really fit well with the character concept (druids and monks ironically achieve their long lives by not trying to achieve long lives - druids are guardians of the natural order, which includes the fact that everything dies, and monks progress spiritually by letting go of attachments and desires), and achieving it by just picking a class feat isn't super satisfying.

I would go with an alchemist with the chirugeon research field, and focus your proficiencies on medicine and craft (medicine for obvious reasons, crafting to represent a greater focus on trying to create unique potions and alchemical items in the hopes of creating a formula to extend life).

Also, try to remember that this characters entire focus is the quest for immortality - don't let your gm actually give it to you easily as that will essentially be the end of the characters story. While the characters goal is to achieve immortality, as a player that isn't your goal - your goal is the play the character and have fun and have a satisfying story. If your character achieves their goal, it is most satisfying if getting to that goal is an entire adventure in itself rather than being a "I reached level 12 and a default feat or spell just gave it to me".

It is also worth noting that while this isn't spelled out in the rules, I think the intent is that effects like timeless body and timeless nature that say that "you cease aging" just stop you from having the effects of aging (you don't look or feel older or slow down) - Sun Orchid Elixir, which is the settings fountain of youth potion that only one guy knows how to make and everyone wants, specifically specifies that it actually extends your lifespan on top of stopping you from aging, which to me implies that "cease aging" doesn't do that on its own. I think with timeless body you just.... expire peacefully in a 25 year olds body when you are roughly 100 years old.

We probably won't have it FAQ'd or spelled out though, as it isn't really something that has any bearing on day to day gameplay, so how that is interpreted is up to your GM.

Also, keep in mind that if your character starts spouting off about immortality, it is like 90% guaranteed that the other players at the table will have their characters be immediately suspicious of your character because the pop culture saturation of liches is pretty heavy at gaming tables. (My wizard told a party member she intended to live forever, and was immediately accused of wanting to become a liche - she was offended because she thinks that becoming a liche is a failure/dead end where you only achieve a parody of real immortality)
