These guys are my favorite Pathfinder antagonist group, and I’m curious: are there any good sources on them in Starfinder that I could steal from?

About the only source they even appear in is pact worlds, but most of the info is how they were kicked off Aucturn during/immediately after the gap.

There in the Starfinder Core rule book too. Sounds like there are pockets of them left on Aucturn. Most of the info on them in Starfinder can be found at starfinder wiki.

The Dominion of the Black likes to collect brains, wonder if they will be spotted on Akiton where the native contemplatives are basically giant floating brain creatures, Akiton is all so a lawless planet so a good place to go if the Dominion was fleeing Aucturn.

not so far as I am aware. the biggest reference is probably one you have, which is in Iron Gods [book 4 I think?].

So far, Starfinder mostly just repeats what we learned from Pathfinder.

I don't know that we'll ever really know more about them.
The narrative role of the Dominion is very much that of the terrifying, unknowable unknown. We know more about the mythos related things than we do about the DotB, that's telling.

We don't even truly know why they do what they do. Hatred, entertainment or purely amoral scientific interest ? What's the long (loooong) term goal ? Where are they from ?

How little we know is why they fill their role : the Dominion of the Black is the scary, weird, incomprehensible alien.
My point being : this is one time when more than bits and pieces might actually do more harm than good. Fragments of maybe-truths, sure. That'd probably be good actually, especially if it's uncertain. But a comprehensive answer ? Heeeh...

I reckon if we ever get significantly more on them in SF, it'll be in the form of an adventure path.
