I'm looking for a semi_optmized build that I can use for battle field control
Race: My Gm said if I wanted I could port over 3.5 Goliath race.
The flavor and powerful build are nice so I'll think ill go with that.
Next is the archetype. Should I go plain brawler or spice it up with an archetype
(The foes in this game will be a mix of humanoids and monsters)
Feat wise I'm not sure what to take besides maybe dirty fighting improved grapple .
I'd before 5p have martial flex to switch between the different grappling feats

The constructed pugilist archetype can grapple someone from 40 feet away, and move them adjacent
Grapnel Arm: The constructed pugilist can fire a grappling hook built into her prosthesis. The grappling hook is attached to a 40-foot-long fine chain affixed to the limb. The constructed pugilist can attack with the grappling hook as a standard action, making a ranged touch attack against the target. The grappling hook can’t be used as part of a full attack. On a successful hit, the grappling hook deals no damage, but it functions as though it had the grapple weapon special feature, except it requires only a hit (not a critical hit) and the grapple ends if the constructed pugilist moves more than 40 feet away from the grappled creature. The constructed limb can’t be used to make melee attacks until the grappling hook has been reloaded (a standard action).
grapple...If you successfully grapple a creature that is not adjacent to you, move that creature to an adjacent open space (if no space is available, your grapple fails)....

It is hard to argue with the amount of control available to someome that can snag anything in an 80' circle. An 80' cicrcle is often larger than the entire battlefield for an encounter.
Level 7 feats for a Goliath Brawler?
Improved Initiative... let's start this winning early by winning initiative.
Improved/Greater/Rapid Grapple feats... because you said you wanted to grapple, and those feats are how you do that.
Throat Slicer... what else are you going to do with the enemy once you have them pinned?
Combat Reflexes... so you can make AoO in the surprise round... AoO to grapple in the surprise round...

Going to want Iron Will pretty soon.
Bushwhack and Chokehold aren't bad to have, either.
If you take a trait for Initiative and a trait for Will saves, that should help, as well. I definitely wouldn't allow the traits to replace Improved Initiative or Iron Will, but they should help immediately/allow some freedom when to take the feats.
Remember to have something to do out of combat, I think the Constructed Pugilist gets Craft Arms and Armor, so maybe you won't be completely useless when you're not tying things into knots.

Looks good, especially if you are starting with that already out of the way. Might swap in Combat Reflexes where Throat Slicer is. That way Combat Reflexes is taken care of... being able to react in a surprise round is something you want from the start.
You can get an idea of how the character will fit in the party and take Throat Slicer at the next opportunity... although Rapid Grapple is probably a higher priority than Throat Slicer. Throat Slicer is just the icing on the cake, but the cake comes first.
You get another bonus feat at 8, so you can have Rapid Grapple and Throat Slicer by level 9... assuming your campaign advances literally at all, you will be able to fit it all in. Lol.
