Hey everyone out there, I was hoping to get a hold of your groupthink to help me come up with a plan. I have an idea for a Precog Character I want to make (yes, I know the official Precog isn't out yet, but from what I understand they will be out in the coming months) and I'm trying to plan a character for Starfinder society.
So, I want to find a way for my Precog to hit people by punching them. The obvious problem is that punches are archaic (even with improved unarmed strike) but I was wondering if there was a way of overcoming that.
The ways I know of are:
-Ring of Fangs (no longer SFS legal)
-Soldier Gear Boost for archaic weapons
-'Punching' as a Solarian weapon or Vanguard Entropy
-Play a race with a natural weapon
-Death Touch Operative talent.
-Use Fist-like weapons like battle gloves.
What I would love to do is to play a human full level precog, which negates all of those (except the battle glove, which is sub par and I'd like to do actual punching.) Does anyone know of ANY other way to make punching non-arhaic? Please, answers like "Wait and see when the full Precog is released" aren't helpful. I understand that, I'm just theorycrafting here. Any archetypes that turn unarmed combat non-archaic (I didn't find any.) Any feats or magic items I overlooked? Any weird tricks or themes or weird stuff I haven't considered? SFS boons?
Thanks for your time and consideration.

Check the errata for Improved Unarmed Strike:
Page 158: In Improved Unarmed Strike, change each instance of “unarmed attack” to “unarmed strike”, and add the following after the first sentence of the benefit section.
Your unarmed strikes don’t count as archaic and can deal lethal damage.

Here is how Improved Unarmed Strike looks in my core, which I believe to be up to date
Your unarmed strike damage increases to 1d6 at 4th level, 2d6 at 8th level, 3d6 at 12th level, 5d6 at 15th level, and 7d6 at 20th level. Your unarmed strikes don’t count as archaic and can deal lethal damage. You threaten squares within your natural reach with your unarmed strikes even when you do not have a hand free for an unarmed strike. If you are immobilized, entangled, or unable to use both legs (or whatever appendages you have in place of legs, where appropriate), you lose the ability to make unarmed strikes without your hands. When making an unarmed strike without your hands, you can’t use such attacks for combat maneuvers or similar abilities—only to deal damage.

Seems like you've got things covered, but just to point something out: check out the Polarity Gauntlet family. I believe they're the only punchy weapon in the game with the Operative property, which lets you max out on Dex, for fun and temporal profit. Also, lets you be a real beast of a pinch-hitter, swapping between melee and ranged as needed!

I do plan on having some kind or gauntlet or other melee weapon so I can attach actual fusions to it. Man, there needs to be the equivalent to an amulet of mighty fists so that unarmed strikes can have fusions.
Polarity gauntlets would be a great option if I didn’t plan on going heavy into strength (but since I am, 1/2 level to damage is. . . Eeeeeeehhhhhh).
Anyone know why Hardlight Handwraps aren’t legal? Those would be perfect. Instead I’ll have to go with battlegloves and such.

That's the beauty of Polarity Gauntlets! They're advanced melee weapons, so you can add +full level and Str mod to damage; but the Operative ability lets you use Dex to hit.
Disclosure: Kishmo may get a commission for each Polarity Gauntlet sold.

Can’t tell if you are being sarcastic or not. On the off chance you are not:
You know how to get the full damage out of a weapon type your class doesn’t normally use.Prerequisites: Character level 3rd, proficiency with selected weapon type.
Benefit: Choose one weapon type (small arms, longarms, heavy weapons, etc.). You gain specialization in that weapon type, which means you add your character level to damage with the selected weapon type, or half your character level for small arms or operative melee weapons. You can never have specialization in grenades.
Doesn’t say anything about if the operative weapon is basic, advanced, or even a special weapon, it still does 1/2 level to damage.

Doesn't matter that its an advanced melee weapon, its an Operative weapon with half level damage unless there is an errata somewhere I don't know about
