hi, im trying to make a spellslinger 1 / magus x character for an upcoming game, my gm likes to use pfs-esque rules, and i have a couple of question on how to handle some rules when it comes to some features of the spellslinger
1-)can i use mage bullets with magus spells?
2-)do the opposition schools affect my magus spellcasting? if so why?
i found the faq stating that features that change spellcasting apply to all classes but, my gm seems to think that because of that, the school of the gun restriction should apply to my magus spellcasting. is there someone who know how is this handled in pfs play so i can link this thread to my gm?
thank you, and have a good day

If you expect Arcane Gun and Mage Bullets to work with your Magus magics... then why wouldn't School of the Gun also apply to your Magus magics?
A Magus still prepares spells, just as a Wizard does... School of the Gun says:
A spellslinger who prepares a spell from his opposition school must use two spell slots of that level to prepare the spell. In addition, the spellslinger takes a –4 penalty on any skill checks made when crafting a magic item that has a spell from one of his opposition schools as a prerequisite.
Why wouldn't that apply?
You can't just pick that all the good things carry over, but conveniently none of the bad things do. That's just silly...

i would imagine that it is because mage bullets don't specify that the sacrificed spell has to be a wizard spell. while school of the gun says "a spellslinger that prepares...". I'm not exactly sure how to read this rullings i'm just following what random post in this messageboard say about similar builds and i want to find the closest thing i get to an official response.

I know how this is handled in PFS play: they disallow spellslinger.

"Arcane Gun (Su): A spellslinger can cast any ranged touch attack, cone, line, or ray spells through his arcane gun."
It says any, not his, so yes, it works with ranged touch attacks, cones, lines, or rays spells from any class.
"Mage Bullets (Su): A spellslinger is adept at transferring spell energy into his arcane gun attacks. As a swift action, he can sacrifice a spell and transform that energy into a weapon bonus ... "
It doesn't give the blank permission of the first ability, so it is limited to the spellsinger class. If a class ability doesn't give a blank permission, it is relevant only for the specific class.
BTW: for the same reason, you get the normal magus cantrips.
"School of the Gun: The rigor and care required by arcane guns is so great that a spellslinger forsakes four schools of magic. ...
A spellslinger who prepares a spell from his opposition school must use two spell slots of that level ..."
Again, a specific class hindrance. It doesn't transfer to other classes.
As the FAQ says, a spellcasting benefit or hindrance transfers to other classes and archetypes unless it says that it is class-specific. Both Mage Bullett and School of the gun say that they are class-specific.
Sorcerer: Do the bonuses granted from Bloodline Arcana apply to all of the spells cast by the sorcerer, or just those cast from the sorcerer's spell list?
The Bloodline Arcana powers apply to all of the spells cast by characters of that bloodline, not just those cast using the sorcerer's spell slots.
General rule: If a class ability modifies your spellcasting, it applies to your spells from all classes, not just spells from the class that grants the ability. (The exception is if the class ability specifically says it only applies to spells from that class.)

I would suggest the Eldritch Archer archetype for the Magus. Even if "archer" refers to bows and arrows, the features simply states "any ranged weapon".

Or myrmidarch, if you're looking to be a bit more focused on weapons and a bit less on spells. The myrmidarch can cast one fewer spell per spell level and has to wait until 4th level to gain Ranged Spellstrike, but retains normal Spellstrike and gains both Weapon Training and Armor Training as a fighter (which can give some nice options).
