The adventure, and possible following campaign, is going to focus around battling a cult worshipping/revering/brainwashed by a Kraken whom in the initial adventure are picking off struggling villagers to enslave for said Kraken. The villagers are getting picked off as they venture into the wilds for food and such as they've not been able to to take boats out for fish or trade for months because of vicious storms caused by Kraken's far in the ocean engaging in their "hateful compulsion" (they're making babies) and for a spooky omen the bay will be black with Kraken blood in the adventure and nobody is going to know what's happening. The adventurers will initially simply be tasked with protecting and aiding the villagers in their foraging/hunting etc because of the amount that have not been returning.
I hope that's enough detail to give folks an idea of what I'll be doing. I'm just not familiar enough with Golarion to know a good choice for this. Ideally I'd want it to be more of a village than a city.

Well, the classic would be Sandpoint. There is a lot of material about it - which can be helpful or restrictive.
And looking at the map, Sandpoint's region Varisia might be your best choice, even if you take another town. The other lands to the West have their own strong themes that might distract from your story: Vikings (Lands of Linnorm Kings), optimization (Hermea), darkness (Nidal), devil worship (Cheliax), atheism (Rahadoum), pirates (Shackles) and colonial tensions (Sargava). That's simplified of course, the individual countries are more complex.
The countries at the Obari Ocean in the Southwest are inspired by Arabia (Qadira), India (Jalmeray) or Northeast Africa (Katapesh), so they have their specific flavor. Further South there is the triplet of the Magocracy (Nex), the undead governed state (Geb) and the fallout region between them (Mana Wastes). So they all have strong themes already, too.

I'll have to check out around Varisia because, yea, I really wouldn't want much else to distract from what I'm shooting for OR more to read up on lol. Thx Eidolon.
