Stealth Initiative

Rules Discussion

I am wondering how Intiative with stealth really works, since it is a secret roll?

Stealth is a secret roll.

When an encounter starts, you roll for initiative, using your perception or another skill modifier ( Stealth, deception or survival ).

Shadow Lodge

Stealth is not a secret roll
Most specific uses of stealth are secret (Conceal an Object, Hide, Sneak) but that doesn't mean all stealth checks (like initiative) are always secret...

But I compare the Stealth Initiative against the Perception DC of the Creature.
If I do this the normal way, that would be a secret roll (sneak, or hide for example)

So why would Initiative suddenly be an open roll?

I think you should think about it from another perspective:

"Why would they have added an initiative check that it's hidden, even without mention how to deal with it in the CRB?"

Initiative call, everybody rolls with a specific stat ( depends the situation they were into ).

Sneaking is normally a secret roll because knowing how well you are hidden from an enemy is meta knowledge that can change how you act next (such as attempting to hide again instead of striking because you didn't get out of sight like you wanted) whereas initiative is only to determine how hidden you are at the start of battle and will at the latest be revealed to you at the start of your turn
