Winter Witch [Advices needed]

I'm trying to create a Winter Witch, but I am not entirely satisfied with it.

A little recap of what I have done until now

We will start by lvl 9 ( I decided to also add the lvl 10 in order to show that I plan to get that feat ).

Now, what bothers me:

Cauldron vs Alchemist Dedication vs Herbalist Dedication

Cauldron

Quote:

Pros:
- Only 2 feats ( one of which available by lvl 1 through Natural Ambition ) required

Cons:
- It will start to work by lvl 10+
- You will be forced to create just 1 kind of potions
- Batch dimensions tied to the witch skill rank ( Nature, in this specific case )
- Very limited Batch dimensions ( 2/3/4 )
- You can create Potions whose level is not higher than your lvl -6

Alchemist Dedication

Quote:

Pros:
- You are not limited to a specific kind of potion ( Versatility )
- You get 1 batch of infused reagents per day
- Slightly less better than the cauldron ( by lvl 12 will be lvl -5 )

Cons:
- You will require 1 extra class feat, compared to Cauldron and Herbalist
- Your progression is slower and clunkier ( it does not increase gradually ) compared to Cauldron and Herbalist
- Require Either Crafting and Nature

Herbalist Dedication

Quote:

Pros:
- You have the best progrssion among the 3 ( your lvl -3 )
- You can create, given the specific feat, oils instead of potions ( can be applied to an ally in an easier way, and provides an extra roll with a lower flat check dc against a persistant damage )
- You just need to be Expert in Nature to create anything

Cons:
- Limited pool of elixirs ( Healing, Antidotes and Antiplagues )

...

Versatility is in my opinion something great, but especially given the fact you are 5/6 level behind the current party level ( or even more, considering severe or deadly encounters ), it seems that it's useless even look at it.

Herbalist dedication seems to be the best of all three ( Though I might consider taking either Herbalist and Cauldron, simply because of the natural ambition feat ).

This might Lead to something like:

Quote:

1- Cauldron

2- Lesson
4- Herbalist
6- Expert Herbalist
8- Improved Familiar
10- Major Lesson I
12- Hex Focus ( prioritary, since I will be using focus spells every encounter )
14- Temporary Potions

Which might be fine.

The second thing I am not really convinced about is

Skill progression and Skill feats

I was thinking about Nature and Survival, but I don't know what about the 3rd one.
I don't have any idea for the skill feats too ( I was considering to maybe get some additional lore about specific theme like "frost creatures", or something like this ).

Finally, may a witch get this feat?

Or its something meant for clerics ( I mean, you need to have the domain )?
Not even sure if would be normal for a witch to also "rely" on deities.

It would be anyway a placeholder until lvl 15 or 17, when I'll get legendary survivalist.

Yes, a witch can get this feat. It's not limited to anyone, you just need a patron deity.

Also, about your skills, I'm a bit surprised you ignored the Intelligence-based skills. For Nature, I understand. But for the 2 others, I would have invested in Intelligence skills.

Well looks like you answered most the questions yourself. I guess you would have to really look at the alchemy items to determine if it is worth it. Your character really looks good to me

I am quite a fan of the Herbalist and do like your direction that you decided to go and mostly it is just personally preference. I might even go deeper into the familiar+cauldron+herbalist aspects.

Potion Maker Familiar Witch!

1- Cauldron

2- Herbalist
4- Anything/Herbalist skill feat
6- Expert Herbalist
8- Familiar Master
10- Temporary Potions
12- Incredible Familiar
14- Familiar Conduit /Familiar Mascot

Familiar master just has a lot of fun feats!

That is probably the direction I would go just to make the most fun out of potions + familiar. Of course I understand why you went lesson/major lesson since hex focus spells are fun!

I love PF2 and the amount of variations of Witch/Potion Maker that all seem viable is just great! I personally love herbalist. Not to mention that I really want to play a Cackle Summon witch, Master Hex Witch too.

Hope you have fun with your Pathfinder 2 game! I mostly play Pathfinder Society so I don't get to play high levels :(

I have some progression tables that might help you compare Herbalist and MC Alchemist.

Herbalist Archetype

Alchemist Multiclass

I'll throw in the tables for the Alchemist class in case anyone is interested.
