Interesting uses for Soul Pool?

Advice

In the 2017 Book of the Damned, the Soul Drinker has Soul Pool:

At 2nd level, a souldrinker can store stolen life energy to use thereafter to accomplish unnatural feats.

Her soul pool starts at 0, and at any one time, it can contain a maximum number of soul points equal to her souldrinker level. Every time a souldrinker inflicts a negative level on a creature other than herself, she gains 1 soul point.

A souldrinker can expend soul points for the following.

Create Item: A souldrinker can expend points from her soul pool to provide energy for the creation of magic items. Each point expended provides 500 gp worth of raw materials for the item.
Recover Spell Slot: As a full-round action, a souldrinker can expend a number of points from her soul pool equal to double the spell level of a cast spell or expended spell slot in order to regain that spell or slot as if it had not been used.
Protect Soul: A souldrinker can spend soul points to avoid gaining a negative level, at a rate of 1 soul point per negative level negated.

Anyone have any interesting ways to utilize this, or the Soul Drinker in general? Most stuff I have found on the web have been regarding the old Soul Drinker.

A while ago, I made a Dreamthief Hag with class levels to maximize the flavor of the Prestige Class... Sanguine Sorcerer 10/Souldrinker 10. She turned out alright, but overall I am not impressed by Souldrinker.

I wish you people would stop using my pool for this kind of stuff. It's horridly unpleasant to clean up afterward.

Honestly, with your pool starting at 0 and requiring that you give things negative levels in order to make use of, you're going to need to have a good number of points before i'd feel comfortable using it. The Protect Soul feature is easily the strongest ability in a campaign heavily featuring negative levels, but those campaigns tend to also have creatures that resist or are immune to energy drain. The item creation is the weakest in my opinion. I guess my question is how often are you going to actually have more than 0 points in your soul pool, and how often are you going to be capped?

maybe it's best to just use it when you have it near cap on recovering spell slots, but always leave a few points to negate a negative level.

Thanks, I moved on to Crimson Assassin.

It seems pretty easy to fill the pool, if you're willing to kill harmless pigeons or whatever on off days. Any downtime at all and you can top off the pool. A totally different class to red mantis assassin though being spellcaster-based rather than including spells as an afterthought.

The Dreamthief Hag I made into a Souldrinker used Sorcerer to have Create Soul Gem, Soul Bind, and Trap the Soul available on her list. Witch would have also worked, but I feel the Witch's class features are less appealing when going into a prestige class.

She [the hag] is essentially a door to door salesman of souls. She sells soul gems of various flavor for various reasons. Some use soul gems for casting or crafting materials, some snack on them, some gain enjoyment from tormenting the soul within, their reasons for buying the gems are no concern to the Hag selling the gems. And for special customers, she can even sell Dreamstones, filled with the minds of up to 20 people per stone.

She pays tribute to Charon, and is known to all the Horsemen, as well as several Harbingers. The closest thing she has to an actual friend is an Implacable Stalker Nightmare Lord Bogeyman. Together they gleefully terrorize the realm of dreams.
