Looking for a resource: PCs going to a big party / festival

Advice

What it says. I threw a big local festival into my campaign. It was intended as wallpaper, but when I mentioned it had a costumed carnival on the final day, the players all got excited -- everyone made up a costume, everyone is attending. So, I'm looking for a resource that can give me events, plot hooks, what have you.

Not looking for monster attacks -- more NPC interactions and RP opportunities. So, can be level- and system-neutral.

Any suggestions?

There's either a module or AP called The Show Must Go On. I've never played it but I see carnival-themed monsters and items on aonprd.

The entire Adventure Path "Extinction Curse" is written around a traveling circus.

The first book, "The Show Must Go On" (as Watery Soup suggests) is full of ideas about how to set up and run a circus/carnival.

The Player's Guide is a free download, and includes "nine new backgrounds, including aerialist, clown, and mystic seer, and an introduction to creating circus tricks to establish your legacy under the big top."

Go check out the Rise of the Runelords forums! People have been coming up with games to play at the Swallowtail festival for the last 11 years.

The first (afaik) OGL 3rd edition ever published Death In Freeport has a carnival in it with contests of strength and such. At least, I think it's that one. It might be #2 Terror In Freeport.
That whole first trilogy is worth checking out.
