I feel like I fundamentally don't "get" something...

I'm in the boons tab. I see that I can "purchase" a Wayfinder "Game Rewards" boon for my character. I have zero points, but the cost is 0, so that should be fine. It has a pre-req in the description of having played one session. That character has played one session, so that's fine.

But if I try to purchase it, I get told:

"That character does not meet the requirements for that boon."

What am I missing?

That the system is buggy.

OK, that's fair. But my read of this is correct, my 2e character with n>=1 session should simply be able to purchase the wayfinder for 0 points, right?

And while I'm on the subject of "things that make no sense to me", is season 2 really eliminating "adventure-specific boons" in favor of just "here's some points. Go buy from a generic list of boons"? One adventure is as good as the next, they're just grinding out points to buy something you want?

That is a way of looking at it, I suppose.

Side note: If you have played at least 1 session, you should have at least 1 AcP. Therein might be the issue. If you have zero points your session(s) might not have been reported yet. It is also entirely possible the system is buggy.

What's a charitable way of looking at it?

It always seemed to me like part of the value-proposition of the chronicle boons was about carrying your actions in one adventure into another in a directly related way, ie, "I got this specific ability by helping these specific people" type of thing. This removes that sort of "character/story callback-continuity" and just turns every outcome into a homogenized flavorless "point accumulation" to be spent on something from a catalog. "You have accumulated XX gold to spend on equipment and also YY AcP to spend on boons."

These aren't AcP Boons, they are "Game Rewards" Boons, the ones way at the bottom below even the Chronicle boons.

True, they aren't AcP boons, but the point is that you -must- have played at least 1 one game with the character to purchase the wayfinder. -IF- you have played at least 1 session with that character -AND- the session has been reported, then you -HAVE gained at least 1 AcP-, because that's the smallest amount of Achievement points you might gain from playing a game.

Saying that you have 0 points suggests that you probably don't have any sessions reported, because if you did have a reported session, your AcP points would be greater than 0.
If the game you've played hasn't been reported yet, then the system doesn't know that you've played a game, and thus it thinks you are missing the required 1 session played.

If the session -has- been reported but the reason why you have 0 AcP is that you've spent exactly all your AcP, then either the game was reported to the wrong character number, or there's some other bug in the system. The error message suggests that the game wasn't actually reported to that specific character.

I feel like I've been clear on this, but maybe screen shots are the only way to truly do so. :-)

* I have 4 AcP. (image)
* I have 0 "Game Rewards". (image)

You're being too dismissive of Rob's comment above.

You may be doing everything right. The system is simply not working.

I personally don't know if you are doing everything right - I have not even attempted to buy anything off the new lists, because I have super low faith in the new system.

For reference, when they started accumulating AcP, it took about 11 months before the site counted correctly and we could actually buy the stufd that we were supposed to buy. Prior to that, everyone just used the old paper system.

If this is the question:

~ "What am I missing?"

Then this is the answer:

~ "That the system is buggy."

In an ideal world, December 31st will roll by, everything will work perfectly, and new players will only come to the Forums to praise, not question, the fully functional AcP and Boon system, and everyone who lived through this year-and-a-half-long hiccup will be able to recline back on our porch and say, in a raspy old timey voice, "Back in 2020..."

Right, my bad - you said you had 0 points, I thought you meant achievement points.

So, I tried purchasing the wayfinder for my character which has only 1 session reported, and got the same error.

I then reported one of the previous games I ran and gave the GM credit for that same character - he now has 2 sessions - and was able to purchase the wayfinder.

The text says that you must have played at least 1 session, but maybe the tech requires you to have -more than one- session played.

This newly adult character has faced undead, both zombies and skeletons. As such, when he faces the same enemies in the future he knows the ideal types of damages. This is a carried over experience.

He talked to a human king.

He spent time with a goblin king (which gave absolutely no benefit).

He threw his sword at a ghost.

Felt really bad about fireballing a dryad. He cried over their dead body.

These are all experiences that this character will take with him. If your games are just "homogenized flavorless point accumulation", that is really not an issue with chronicles. I mean...my fun and memorable moments aren't determined by chronicles. Maybe yours are...

Secondly, while you may have taken mine and Tommi's comments to be negative, we were actually just narrowing down possibilities. From the get go, the "buggy system" was very much a possible cause to your problem, but not the only possible cause. There was possibility of user error as well. Our questions and posits were intended to check for user error. You have clarified that there was no user error. Therefore, now the only possible cause is "buggy system".

This seems most likely of all. I just wanted to firmly put to bed the AcP/reporting line of thought, cuz it's definitely not that. :-)
