inspire competence vs one for all

Advice

I am playing a bard and I am considering to retrain my inspire competence and some other feat into the swashbuckler´s dedication and to get the one for all feat.

One for all seems to be better in most ways:
1. It's not a 'song' so it doesn't disrupt other compositions like inspired courage.
2. It's not limited to skills, so it can be used to aid an attack of an ally
3. it uses diplomacy instead of performance. Diplomacy seems more usefull to me then performance.

Ok it has 30 foot range instead of 60.
And it doesn't have the change failure into success effect.

Am I missing something in my analysis?

The former works for all party members within 60 feet ranged.

The latter only for a specific target.

Not to say that through Inspire Heroics you might be able to improve the effectiveness of your song in order to give a nice boost to your allies.

I'd stick to inspire courage, and save 2 class feat for something else.

I am talking about inspire COMPETENCE not inspire courage.

inspire competence has target 1 ally.

One for all is slightly better overall yes.

Inspire Competance is mostly for out of combat utility, and for that purpose it's an extremely good ability.

The fact that it collides with the other songs is minor since you're not usually using it in combat, while the other songs are mostly combat oriented, and as you pointed out, it has some upsides.

As a Bard, you're already focusing on Performance either way, so it does free up a skill as well.

Now, if you can and want to pay an extra class feat AND a full skill (out of your 3) to get One for All, then yeah, it's worth it.

As I was also interested in Bon Mot on my bard, I did just that.

yeah I also saw that feat. It reminded me of the monkey island game.

You fight like a dairy farmer.
