Synthesist Summoner using Succubus as a race

Advice

Hey y'all

I have a build idea, and I'm curious what other people would do with this idea. I want to build (as an NPC) a Succubus who is a (chained) Synthesist Summoner. Naturally, the eidolon should be a grapple build, and there's certainly a level adjustment, but does anyone have specific build ideas or input, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks in advance!

Biped base form for sure. This gives you two claw attacks which you can pick up the grab evolution for on the cheap.
After that, large gives the most bang for your buck for increasing grapple relevant stats.
Bite + grab is the cheapest way to get a third shot at starting the grapple in there.

Since the succubus has Agile Maneuvers as a racial feat, and synthesist uses the caster's feats while merged, I'm thinking the eidolon wants to pump dex to extreme levels. Other than that, is it free reign on the evolutions, or is there something important I should pick I'm I'm not thinking of?

If you're going for dex then getting large is a waste of evolution points. Also, a marilith is arguably serpentine base form so you might go with that, and +4 dex over the biped is worth it.

Pumping her AC with improved natural armor & improved ability (dex) evolutions should be useful for a grappler who has to hang around being stabbed a lot, and might synergise with the snapping turtle style if she has the feats.

You can't use Grab on a creature that's the same size class as you. Large is effectively a tax to get Grab vs medium creatures. Unless I misread something.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You'd likely be better off ignoring agile maneuvers and just going for a str-based grapple eidolon suit.

If Grab did nothing other than give you a +4 to your grapple checks, it'd be a great pick. Getting a free grapple against the occasional smaller enemy is just icing on the cake.
