I promise I've read through plenty of documents and searched the Forum, but couldn't find a definitive answer to the following (so hoping someone can help):
1. Is PFS gaming happening on-line now? I presume so (given COVID), but does it have to be done in a four-hour window - or is like like a regular PbP?
2. Same question for Gameday IX (appreciate it's a slightly different question, but I didn't want to spam two forums when one would do)
Many thanks :)

There's lots of online gaming happening in a variety of formats. Visit pfschat.com to join the Online Region's discord to find either VTT based games (typically 4-5 hours slots) or PbP games. Local lodges may or may not have made the jump to online. (Metro Boston for instance has a number of GMs running on both Roll20 and FantasyGrounds, typically in the usual 4 hour slot.)
Lots of online conventions replacing the usual offline ones, and since they're online they tend to be open to a larger audience.

GameDay IX started two days ago, and signups started last month, so you're probably too late for that one. But I believe there's another PbP Convention towards the end of the year.
PFS (and SFS) online has been available for many years now. There's just simply more people utilizing it in the era of Covid.

1. PFS gaming has been happening online in both live (virtual table top or Skype/Zoom/etc) and PbP long before COVID, but there's a lot more happening now. Most conventions have moved online and are, of the ones whose details I'm aware of, virtual table top live.
2. Gameday IX is specifically a PbP convention. And there actually probably are a few open tables that you could potentially join.

Since GameDay IX is two months long, some of the quests that started a couple days ago will finish in about a week or so. I read that people will be starting new quests and bounties once those finish. I plan to jump in on one or two when that happens. Just keep an eye on the Paizo recruitment threads.
Plus, there are PFS PbP games that aren't involved with GD IX that pop up once in a while.

Here are a couple more links.
1. The best place to find PFS tables online, IMO, is right here on Paizo at either of the "Halfling" Lodges:
Cottonseed Lodge recruitment for PFS 2e;
Flaxseed Lodge recruitment for PFS 1e.
2. Even though Gameday IX has already started, not all tables have already started running. You might be able to find an open table still. Here is the spreadsheet for recruitment.
