Barbarian Sentinel?

Advice

I'm seriously considering taking the Sentinel archetype with my next class feat (10th). He's just hit eighth level and I'm looking to get him a little extra protection via heavy armor. I had considered going Champion, but Sentinel is better because the proficiency scales. I might be able to squeeze in one more archetype feat. Would folks say it's better to get the armor specialization ability or the Mighty Bulwark one?

Or am I just an idiot and this is a stupid idea?

You can get both; armor specialist is a skill feat. Steel skin is also a skill feat.

I can't find either of those under Skill Feats.

The idea is stupid but not for the reason you think. Why - you can have both.

Mighty Bulwark is just an ARCHETYPE feat so it will cost you a CLASS feat to take. Armour Specialist is also a SKILL feat and doesn't, so you are paying for them out of different buckets.

The APG introduced some archetype feats that are skill feats so they are a lot cheaper. It also means you can get through 2 required archetype feats into a second dedication much quicker.

This makes a few Archetypes like Sentinel and Dandy better value.

I had to have it pointed out to me as well.

They're listed with the other archetype feats, but if you look closely you'll see that both of those feats have the SKILL trait.

That is just the way they are organised. But if you look them up under the archetpye they clearly are skill feats like all the others.

They're all skill feats? Awesome! Then I can save my class feats for Terrifying Howl and Whirlwind Attack!

Not all of them. Only those with the "Skill" trait.

Armor Specialist is a Skill feat. Mighty Bulwark is not.

Okay, then I'm confused. What did this mean by "like all the others"?

Not sure what Gortle was trying to say there, to be honest.

But, it's really quite simple. Look at the Sentinel Dedication. Two of its feats, Steel Skin and Armor Specialist, have the Skill trait and can be picked as skill feats. The other feats lack this trait so they have to be chosen instead of a class feat.

That's really all.

and I'm not sure why what I said was confusing. But yes this was what I was trying to say.

That kind of makes it sound like all the feats under the Archetype are skill feats.

You probably meant to say something along the lines of "They are Skill feats but belong to the Archeytpe. So you find them under the Archetype like all other feats of the Sentry."

Liberty's Edge

I read it as "like all the other skill feats" even though they are printed in a different place.
