Thinking about making a melee flame oracle strutting around in heavy armor setting everything around it on fire but have no clue about what the good spells are for that kinda build.
The spells are preferably accessible through divine school or a deity of the fire or sun domain because lvl 2 is sentinel dedication meaning I won't be able to multiclass until lvl 9 (multitalented)

It comes with produce flame. Which can be melee, and it's upgrade of flaming fusillade.
Also remember that concealment does not apply to area spells, like bless, 3 action heal/harm, or sound burst. So those all work as normal.
Resist energy could also be good for your allies, so you don't need to worry about them being close, as can other utility.
Also summon, possibly with final sacrifice.
Flame Strike, searing light, and sun burst also are divine with the fire keywords.

oh forgot about 3 action heal that's great to know. TY
is there a spell that offers small amounts of healing over time? Would be a sweet way to counter the persistent life loss
What about Life Boost?
https://2e.aonprd.com/Spells.aspx?ID=799
1 Dedication + 1 Archetype feat,
Costs 1 focus point and requires 1 action.
Eventually, you might consider to use Vital Bacon
https://2e.aonprd.com/Spells.aspx?ID=359
Then touch yourself :d when you need to recover some heal.

Wow, tried to look, and every possibility was just out of reach. You aren't a cleric, so no devotee benefits. Most non-cantrip spell options from race are just innate spells that don't scale on their own. So few ways to get a good blast of burning hands.
And I'm going to assume you aren't a kobold (whose breath is basically cantrip level damage with a nice, melee friendly cone).

life boost sounds perfect but that familiar would die on a constant basis xD.
Also loving the 1 action nature of it so it's even cheaper actionwise to get into major curse

oracles have a feat to access cleric domain spells. I think it's called divine access. Have to be human to access heavy armor on lvl 2.
Your ability to tap into divine magic surpasses the spells traditionally available to you (the divine spell list). Choose one deity who grants one of your mystery's granted domains. Add up to three cleric spells of your choice granted by that deity to your spell list. You can select from these spells when you add or swap spells in your spell repertoire.
Special You can select this feat more than once. You can't choose the same spells more than once, but you can choose a different domain or a different deity with the same domain you've previously selected with this feat.

Ah. Missed that. Burning hands is a perfectly fine spell for this build then. It has a reach that only barely exceeds the bare radius of your emanation (you don't outstretch it until level 9). Sarenrae, Angradd, Chohar, Lady Nanbyo, Moloch, Nurgal, Ra, Szuriel, and Ymeri all give it as their 1st level devotee spell.
Really, there was only ever one problem with burning hands- it is a short range cone, and most of the devoted blaster classes are squishy. But you are going into melee range. But for a melee build? You are going to wade into the fray anyway, and it can be easier to group enemies for an AoE when they are coming to murder you.
Ra and Nurgal also grant flaming sphere. It is not the greatest single single hit of damage, but it is efficient. You can cast it once, sustain it, and make it into a continual problem for the enemy. You simply need to stand next to where you plan to move it in order to use it over and over.
Moloch might also be a good choice of deity. Besides matching your "big, burning, and heavily armored" theme, his 7th level devotee spell is Fiery body (self buff- fly speed, creatures usually take fire damage when they hit you, your fire spells hit a little harder, and produce flame is a 1 action spell and practically becomes a melee/ranged weapon attack for you)

Saw the bards Hymn of Healing that grants fast healing too so I'm getting closer to a build
Versatile Human Flame Oracle 16/8/12/8/14/18
LVL 1:
Viking Shieldbearer (Shield Block)
Versatile Heritage (Armor Proficiency)
LVL 2:
Domain Acumen (Ki Pool 2 required to go into major curse retrain later)
LVL 3:
Toughness
LVL 4:
Sentinel Dedication
LVL 5:
Str: 18 Con: 14 Wis: 16 Cha: 19
Natural Ambition (Widen Spell)
LVL 6:
Divine Access (sarenrae = Burning Hands, fireball, wall of fire)
LVL 7:
Fleet
LVL 8:
Undecided Class Feat,
LVL 9:
Multitalented (Bard Dedication)
LVL 10:
Basic Muse's Whispering (Hymn of Healing)
at that point or by taking advanced revelation at 8 it's possible to retrain the LVL 2 into sentinel dedication and lvl 4 into divine access and free up the lvl 6 class feat. Don't really know what feats are good at 6 and 8 could also just take more divine accesses
Might take more divine access or retrain for a different spell selection later since fiery body sounds great but fireball is also needed.
before getting the ki pool to 3 the plan would be to after preparations cast a cursebound spell refocus to minor curse and then cast 2 cursebound spells in the next fight and then always refocus to moderate curse.

Taking metamagic feats while having a sustain focus spell is not the greatest option you have.
I suggest you instead to take the witch dedication and the "first lesson" to take Life boost, which is basically the hymn of healing bard feat:
- It doesn't give temp HP, but the same fast healing bonus.
- It costs 1 action (somatic) instead of 2
- It doesn't require to be sustained
- Lasts 4 round as hymn of healing.
By being a witch you could decide between all traditions ( eventually, you could get a secondary school meant to give you bonuses you don't have ). If you take arcane, you could take the ring of wizardry to increase your spells ( you will be having many spells even with basic spellcasting. You could be using them as free reroll with true strike, even if you won't be able to ignore your curse penalty, it would be 2 dices instead of one ).
Also, consider to take some revelation spells.
advanced: whirling flames ( lvl 6 )
greater: flaming fusillade ( lvl 12 )
Both are very nice and versatile, depends the situation, and help you progressing with your curse.
ps: I am not sure what stats you have with 8 since 16/8/12/8/14/18 is not very clear, but remember that having negative dex means to have -1 AC even if you have a full plate with bonus dex 0.
| HumbleGamer |
oh going in order str/dex/con/int/wis/cha, dex and int would be the voluntary flaws.
Was thinking of raising dex to 10 again once I got str to 18 forgot about the AC malus.
What scares me off the witch dedication is killing my familiar with the major curse
Well, the best thing would be to keep him away from you ( I doubt you will ever see a mighty deamon chasing your frog while its allies are fighting with a fireblaster oracle, a devastating warrior and anything else.
But yeah, by lvl 11 it will have 55 hp, so maybe they won't be enough to remain alive for 4/5 rounds ( combats tend to last for 4/5 rounds most of the time ). I am not even sure that you will be able to give extra traits to your familiar ( depends the kind i guess )

Another issue with Witch dedication is the 14 int requirement unless I choose half elf heritage. Would only cost me an ancestry feat (general ambition) however to rectify.
Could move toughness to 5 and take viking shieldbearer instead at 3
The familiar could be flying above me with just the 1 trait. Wouldn't be particularly useful but at least not permadead.

Yeah, that seems to be an advantage of divine access, since, you aren't bound to any single deity. You can cherry pick the fire gods as you please for this.
Fiery body doesn't even come up for you until level 13, so level 14 is probably the sweet spot.

Fiery Body and then rain a heightened Fireball onto yourself is the dream xD
