I'm currently looking at making a Medic Investigator

Background Barber
Methodology Forensic Medicine
Race: ??? (At the moment I have catfolk tiefling, but they're not really good for this stat wise, but I want something non-core. Just need to find the proper picture too)
Race feat: ??? (Originally had Tiefling Tail attack, but its bludgeoning)

First level feat: Known Weakness
Second level Feat : Medic Dedication
4th level feat: Scalpel's Point
6th level feat: Treat condition or Doctor's Visitation
8th level feat: What ever wasn't picked at 6th level
10th level feat: Suspect of Opportunity or holsitic Care
12th level feat: Whatever isn't chosen at 10th level
14th level feat: Strategic Bypass
16th level feat: Resuscitate
18th level feat: Trickster's Ace?
20th level feat: Everyone's a suspect

Skill feats
2: Continual Recovery
3*: Medical Research - if able to
4: Something to improve recall knowledge checks?

Trying to figure out what weapon to use though. Currently thinking shortbow as it improves my damage on crit hits and I can use it at range but within 30 feet.

6th level feat: Treat condition or Doctor's Visitation

One is a Skill feat, the other a archetype feat. So you can take both Treat condition and Doctors visitation at 6th level. Holistic care is also a skill feat. So you have lots of choices left... :-)

Huh. Well that does help with a bit there. Did not realize the archetype feats might also be skill feats which does qualify for all the skill thingies. Interesting.

100% this, it's super easy to miss, but it's game changing for a lot of archetypes. You can dip in and out much faster while still getting the flavor and specific powers you want.

i think it's vital for Investigators to have something to do when they know that their strikes will miss.

In your case, you have only Medicine, which while it's really good, it won't always be "active" (either due to immunity or due to no need to heal someone yet).

Innate spells and Intimidation/Diplomacy skill feats are an option, but all those are Cha based while I'm assuming with a build like that you would want to focus on Int/Wis and not on Int/Cha.

So, as an option for your "empty" feats you could grab Witch dedication at 8 and basic/expert/master spellcasting at 10-12/12-14 (depending if you pick suspect of opportunity at 10, 12 or 14)/18. Going either Divine or Occult spellist will give you more healing options, offensive cantrips to use when your Stratagem points a miss and you need to do some damage, or even simply some buffs.

This will also give you a familiar that you could either use as a second pair of eyes or simply as an additional spell, or an additional racial spell.

As an additional plus, if you grab some innate spells, it would boost their proficiency up to master instead of staying forever trained.

A secondary option would be to pick up Herbalist and stock the upgrade of it (level-3 healing elixirs) and stock up on them as an additional source of healing to compliment Medicine.

I know part of with my misses, I'd be looking at trying to hopefully d the recall knowledge checks to get everyone a +1 circumstance bonus on attacking the target.

Though I suppose getting something else there could be helpful, though I don't know about witch.

Or for something thematic to Investigator, have your Forensic Medicine Methodology Investigator dabble in the Alchemical Sciences Methodology by Multi-classing in Alchemist - only a 3 class feat investment. APG expanded the available alchemy items, and if you really want a familiar, you can spend a feat to get one of those alchemical familiars (maybe a small frankenstein-type familiar sewn together from bits and pieces of the animals you used in your medical experiments!).

Are you talking about the Known Weakness feat? You make that recall knowledge check for free as part of the Devise a Stratagem action, so no need to use another action on it if the Devise roll is low. You could recall knowledge about some other opponent, though.

(Just realized that when you Devise a Stratagem against a subject of your case and have Known Weakness you get TWO actions for free, which is pretty amazing.)
