Any way to do beneficial polymorph on another player?

Can anyone think of a way to do the old 3.x style polymorph where you polymorph the fighter into something scary as all hell and let them loose on the monsters?

I see the appropriate form spells but they are self only. No way to enhance a party mate. Any Advice?

Why would a fighter want to weaken himself by using a polymorph spell?

Unlikely.
Battle forms very limited, with decent equipment fighter surely will perform way better than any battle forms.
The only thing i can think will be beneficial to fighter is - enlarge.
And main advantage for fighter would be not even +4 damage (it's really not that much at all). But +10 reach. With would allow him to do very impressive whirlwind attacks.

I mean, being able to substitute your own unarmed attack rating and getting access to flight or underwater breathing or something similar can be a really useful combo in certain situations.

Indeed, if only there were a way for a spellcaster to grant a fighter flight or underwater breathing while keeping their own attack rating. How much better if they could do it while letting them keep their weapons.

Doing it with a polymorph spell could be useful for:

1. Not taking up a spell known slot for spontaneous casters
2. Give multiple spell effects at once (flight+underwater breathing)
3. Offer additional utility like breath weapons or other special things that can't be gained another way.

It's not as simple as saying there's no point in casting it on a fighter. Whether or not it's possible is one thing, but implying it's pointless is incorrect.

Seems almost all the beneficial polymorph spells are written to work on the caster only.

I didn't review all spell in depth, but that appears to be the trend. The exceptions appears to be Enlarge, Gaeseous Form, Shrink, and Primal Herd.
