Battledancer + Acrobatic Performer

Rules Discussion

Hi everyone,

I'm a bit puzzled on the interaction between these 2 abilities.

Battledancer:

"To you, a fight is a kind of performance art, and you command your foes' attention with mesmerizing motions. You are trained in Performance and gain the Fascinating Performance skill feat. You gain panache during an encounter when the result of your Performance check to Perform exceeds the Will DC of an observing foe, even if the foe isn't fascinated."

Acrobatic Performer:

"You're an incredible acrobat, evoking wonder and enrapturing audiences with your prowess. It's almost a performance! You can roll an Acrobatics check instead of a Performance check when using the Perform action."

Can I use the Perform action with Acrobatics and still benefit from Battledancer Panache?

From what I understand, RAW at least, you can use Acrobatics to Perform but will not gain Panache doing so because the Style specifically calls a Performance check with Perform.

Yes, I agree with you. It's sad, it would have been a nice combo!

Probably a bit too good at making the Swashbuckler SAD, though. They can already get Panache with Acrobatics, letting them also get other bonuses when doing so is probably a tad much.

ehhh the same can be said about Fencers though. Fencers only require to succeed at a Feint, not succeed using deception only. And that allows opportunities like the scout Archetype to allow Feint using stealth instead of deception, and thus allowing you to dump Cha.

And Gymnast if he uses a Finesse weapon with the proper traits.
